Ancient Gospel is a void adaptive frame hand cannon introduced in the Garden of Salvation Raid from the Shadowkeep Expansion. Garden of Salvation weapons were updated and revised during Episode: Revenant. Adaptive Frame hand cannons are excellent weapons that work well in both PvE and PvP. The Ancient Gospel is fully craftable as of Episode Revenant. This guide will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Ancient Gospel hand cannon.

How to Get Ancient Gospel in Destiny 2
You obtain the Ancient Gospel from the Garden of Salvation raid on the Moon. Specifically, the Ancient Gospel can drop from the raid’s 3rd Encounter, the Consecrated Mind, or any hidden chest after acquiring it at least once from the said encounter. To access Garden of Salvation, you must own the Shadowkeep expansion. As of Episode Revenant, the Ancient Gospel can be crafted at the Enclave once you have unlocked its Deepsight pattern. To unlock crafting for the Ancient Gospel, you must extract 5 patterns from Deepsight versions of the weapon.
To acquire the Deepsight Pattern of the Garden of Salvation Weapons, players must go to the Clan Vendor, Suraya Hawthorne at the Tower and acquire the “Deepsight Signal” quest. This quest guarantees a red border weapon on completion and only requires that every encounter in the raid be completed. This quest can be completed weekly and once completed the player can purchase an additional Deepsight weapon the player has unlocked in collections. Deepsight Patterns can also sometimes drop with the weapons acquired during the raid itself or have it applied to them with a Deepsight Harmonizer.
What Is the Ancient Gospel God Roll in Destiny 2?
A god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. In most situations, there are two god rolls for any gun, a roll for PvE and one for PvP. The Ancient Gospel has one of the best and most unique god rolls for hand cannons for PvP and PvE. The best part is that the god roll is the same other than tweaking the minor perks.

The best perks for the Ancient Gospel PvE God Roll are Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, Rampage, and Swashbuckler. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The Ancient Gospel is a unique and powerful hand cannon. It can easily become one of the better add-clearing hand cannons in the game. The Ancient Gospel benefits from most minor perks, but traits like Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag add the most useful stats. The hand cannon’s strength comes from its versatility in its stats, so really anything that makes the numbers go up is a good option.
The Ancient Gospel has many good perks in its repertoire, so there are many good options for many situations. The most unique of those is the combination of Rampage and Swashbuckler which give the weapon two damage-increasing perks that activate simultaneously for doing the same thing. This powerful combination works well in both PvE and PvP. Don’t feel locked into this choice as options like Demolitionist, Explosive Payload, and Kill Clip are all also solid options for PvE.
PvP Ancient Gospel God Roll
The best perks for the Ancient Gospel PvP God Roll are Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Rampage, and Swashbuckler. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

PvP Breakdown
The PvP god roll of Ancient Gospel uses the same major traits as the PvE one we specified. Rampage and Swashbuckler are easy to proc damage-increasing perks that increase the forgiveness and time-to-kill of the weapon by quite a bit. At its maximum level, guardians can be killed in two shots very easily. This makes the Ancient Gospel a very effective weapon.
Increasing the Rang of the weapon is as always standard practice for most weapons in PvP. Traits like Hammer-forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds do this in spades. Since the major traits for the PvP god roll and the PvE god roll are the same, you could essentially use the PvP god roll for PvE if you desired with only minimal performance difference. One caveat to using the Ancient Gospel in PvP is that it suffers easily from flinch, making it harder to land your shots. Its still worth a pick-up though for its sheer power.

There are 7 legendary weapons and one exotic weapon found in the Garden of Salvation raid. The Garden of Salvation has 4 primary weapons, 4 special weapons, and no heavy weapons. Q. Why is Ancient Gospel Void and not Solar?
Answer: When Bungie updated the Garden of Salvation weapons with new perks, they also changed the Ancient Gospel from a Solar Hand Cannon to a Void Hand Cannon. Its not completely clear why Bungie did this, but it was a controversial decision for sure.
