Archon’s Thunder can be obtained from any Iron Banner Reward. Once the gun has been earned you can focus it at Valus Saladin for Iron Banner Engrams and Glimmer. Iron Banner is a limited-time competitive game mode that comes once every couple of months for two weeks. Each week a different mode of Iron Banner is featured.
What Is the Archon’s Thunder God Roll in Destiny 2?
A god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. In most situations, there are two god rolls for any gun, a roll for PvE and one for PvP. The Archon’s Thunder is one of the few machine guns that has a much better PvP god roll than a PvE god roll. Unless you are looking for decent stasis synergy, stick to using this weapon for PvP.
PvE Archon’s Thunder God Roll
The best perks for the Archon’s Thunder PvE God Roll are Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Envious Assassin, and Killing Talley. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

PvE Breakdown
High-impact machine guns like the Archon’s Thunder aren’t particularly favored in PvE. They can be decent for damage and deal the most damage per individual bullet but have a slower rate of fire. High-impact machine guns don’t excel at either add clear or boss damage because of this. We still can get a decent or unique weapon for PvE if we go for the right perks.
Arrowhead Brake and Appended Mag are the best PvE options on most rapid-fire weapons. They improve the recoil pattern and magazine capacity of the weapon respectively. For a general-purpose god roll, Envious Assassin is the best option for Column 3. It will overload the magazine for getting kills with other weapons. Column 4 gives us the powerful Killing Talley, which is always a great option on machine guns of any frame. While this is the best decent general-purpose god roll, you could opt for a more stasis-flavored weapon roll with Rimestealer and Headstone instead. That particular roll is just a bit too niche for it to be listed as our main god roll.
PvP Archon’s Thunder God Roll
The best perks for the Archon’s Thunder PvP God Roll are Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, and Tap the Trigger. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

PvP Breakdown
Machine guns are particularly effective in PvP because they get a lot of rounds and have generally low time-to-kill. You could opt to add some damage options to the Archon’s Thunder to speed up the TTK just a little bit, but this is unnecessary for the weapon to be effective. You are typically better off by improving the overall neutral game of the weapon.
Fluted Barrel is a great option for the Archon’s Thunder barrel since it improves both stability and handling. You could also opt for Arrowhead Brake instead as well, but the recoil direction stat is less important in PvP where you will be controlling your burst more. Accurized Rounds will increase the weapon’s overall range and accuracy cone falloff. From there, we want to take perks like Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap the Trigger to improve the general usage of the weapon. Both of these traits should improve the overall feel of Archon’s Thunder by improving its stats and accuracy. Overall, the Archon’s Thunder is a great PvP machine gun, but its not necessarily unique or a better option than most other machine guns.

Answer: Bungie brought back the Archon’s Thunder for Episode: Revenant, and when they did, they changed its element from Solar to Stasis. Bungie normally does this to introduce different weapon element archetypes into the game. Most players don’t particularly care for this, as they feel it changes the weapon’s identity.
