Welcome to our Destiny 2 Commemoration and How to Get guide. The Commemoration is a adaptive frame machine gun launched with the release of the Deep Stone Crypt raid. This machine gun comes with some very strong magazine and damage perks in the game.
Machine guns have always had a place in PVE due to their decent boss damage output, great add clear, and often fantastic ammo economy. In PVP, they are potent heavy ammo weapons capable of achieving multiple kills with a single heavy ammo spawn.

How to Obtain Commemoration
Commemoration is obtained in the Deep Stone Crypt raid from the Beyond Light Expansion. Specifically, it has a chance to drop from the final encounter. Once acquired for the first time, it has a chance to drop from the two hidden chests as well. Every drop has a chance to drop with Deepsight Resonance, which can be extracted to unlock the pattern for crafting the weapon. After the final encounter, a loot chest can be interacted with to focus the weapon with Spoils of Conquest, provided the weapon has been obtained before and unlocked in collections. Once per week, the first weapon focused this way will have guaranteed Deepsight Resonance.
PVE Commemoration God Roll
The following list includes all Destiny 2 Commemoration God Roll traits for PVE.
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake |
Magazine | Tactical Mag |
Perk 1 | Reconstruction |
Perk 2 | Firing Line |
Origin Trait | Bray Inheritance |
Masterwork | Handling |
Mod | Backup Mag |
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Arrowhead Brake. This will give you better recoil direction giving you a better opportunity to land back-to-back shots. It also gives a small boost in weapon handling allowing you to swap to this weapon more quickly for damage.
Magazine: With the magazine, we are going to improve the weapons reload and stability and give it a few extra bullets choosing Tactical Mag. This will give us the maximum amount of bullets in our magazine.
Column 3 Perk: Our third column choice is Reconstruction. After not firing the weapon, whether stowed or equipped, the magazine will slowly refill to twice the amount of the base magazine.
Column 4 Perk: For our final column perk, Firing Line is the must have. This perk gives us a sizable damage boost while simply standing near at least two allies making it very strong in all group content.
Masterwork: Our obvious choice for masterwork is Handling this will allow us to swap to the weapon faster to empty our magazine.
Mod: For the mod, we are choosing Backup Mag. This paired with our other perks will give us the maximum mag size.
Conclusion: Machine guns have always been a tried and true add clear weapon because they pack a punch while having massive reserve ammo. With recent buffs, they now contend quite well for boss damage weapons while still keeping their original strengths. They have now become an all around potent weapon regardless of content and are incredibly consistent.
PVP Commemoration God Roll
The following list includes all Destiny 2 Commemoration God Roll traits for PVP
Barrel | Fluted Barrel |
Magazine | Accurized Rounds |
Perk 1 | Surplus |
Perk 2 | Under Pressure |
Origin Trait | Bray Inheritance |
Masterwork | Range |
Mod | Targeting Adjuster |
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Arrowhead Brake. This will give you better recoil direction giving you a better opportunity to land back-to-back shots. It also gives a small boost in weapon handling allowing you to swap to this weapon more quickly for damage.
Magazine: Accurized Rounds are the choice for our mag. Accurized Rounds give a massive boost to the range stat which increases the range at which aim assist will fall off. This gives you the greater chance to land your shots from even farther.
Column 3 Perk: We are going with Surplus. This gives us large buffs in handling, stability, and reload speed depending upon how many abilities we have fully charged. This won’t massive change the weapons output but will help it feel better in engagements.
Column 4 Perk: For our final perk, we are going with Under Pressure. This increases our accuracy, decreases our accuracy cone, and gives a boost in stability as our magazine gets lower. Since heavy ammo drops in PVP are small, this should be applied anytime we get ammo.
Masterwork: Handling masterwork is a must have. This masterwork allows us to ready and aim down sights faster which could give you a small advantage in your engagements.
Mod: Targeting Adjuster is a great choice here. This gives a small boost in your aim assist making your bullets more likely to hit the target.
Conclusion: Machine guns are powerful in PVP for obtaining multiple kills with a single heavy ammo spawn. They pack a massive punch and are sure to throw off anyone peaking a lane not expecting the damage of a machine gun. As long as you are comfortable landing shots, there is no reason you shouldn’t have a machine gun available for your heavy weapon.
