Destiny 2 Crowning Duologue God Roll and How to Get

This guide has been updated for Episode Echoes Act II and the Final Shape Expansion.

Crowning Duologue is a strand precision frame rocket launcher introduced in the 2023 Solstice of Heroes event. Rocket Launchers are potent PVE and PVP weapons capable of high burst damage on a single target and the ability to clear multiple enemies in a single shot. Precision frames do less damage than other rockets intrinsically but come with tracking built in. The Crowning Duolgue can be Enhanced, granting it better stats and access to enhanced perks in Columns 3 and 4. The Crowning Duologue is an event weapon, so it is only available for a limited time during the Solstice of Heroes event. In this guide, we will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Crowning Duologue rocket Launcher.

PvE Crowning Duologue God Roll

The best perks for the Crowning Duologue PvE God Roll are Quick Launch, Impact Casing, Reconstruction, and Bipod. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Crowning Duologue PVE God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Launcher Barrel: Quick Launch
  • Magazine: Impact Casing
  • Column 3 Trait: Reconstruction
  • Column 4 Trait: Bipod
  • Masterwork: Handling
  • Origin Trait: Hakke Breach Armaments
  • Weapon Mod: Quick Access Sling

PvE God Roll Breakdown

As of the time of this post, Crowning Duologue is only one of two strand rocket launchers in the game and the only precision one at that. In PvE, rocket launchers of all frames utilize the same launcher barrel and magazine: Quick Launch and Impact Casing respectively. Quick Launch increases both Velocity and Handling, both of which are crucial stats on Rocket Launchers. Impact Casing directly improves the damage on direct hit of the rocket by 2.2%, which seems a small thing but it can make a huge difference. A Handling masterwork and the Quick Access Sling mod improve the ready speed of the weapon, allowing for faster swaps between weapons.

For our main perks in Columns 3 and 4, we are making an odd but powerful choice with Reconstruction and Bipod. This combination not only loads 4 rockets into the magazine but increases the reserves of the weapon to 12 total rockets. This has the highest burst damage numbers for this particular rocket (barring Reconstruction and Envious Assassin shenanigans). This is a very powerful option on shorter damage phases. The old standard of Reconstruction and Bait and Switch is still a viable option and may allow for higher damage per second so your mileage may vary. Hakke Breach Armaments make the launcher much more powerful against vehicles and constructs, but otherwise its origin traits don’t add a lot of value. The Crowning Duologue has a lot going for it in PvE, making it a sure pick-up during its limited run during Solstice of Heroes.

Other PvE Rolls of Note
  • Demolitionist or Hatchling / Chain Reaction
    • Decent combinations for build-crafting especially for strand or prismatic.
  • Air Trigger / Bait and Switch or Bipod
    • Higher total reserves and very fast reload just for jumping.
  • Reconstruction / Envious Assassin
    • While further testing is needed for specifics, this combination could allow for the highest numbers of rockets shot without needing to reload.
    • This would allow for very high burst damage.

How to Use the Crowning Duologue in PvE

Precision frame rocket launchers like Crowning Duologue are considered to be decent weapons for PvE. That being said, they are often overlooked and considered a worse option than rocket launchers of other frames. While precision frames track their targets intrinsically, they suffer from an x0.95 damage modifier from the base (high-impact) rocket launchers. Drawing from that, they do almost 14% less damage than adaptive and aggressive frame rocket launchers.

Despite this shortcoming, precision frames do hold a place in the sandbox. The innate tracking allows them to more easily hit mobile targets like Sedia, from the Corrupted strike, or Simmumah Ur-Nokru, from the Ghost of the Deep dungeon. A missed rocket is always less damage than one that hits, giving precision frames an edge against more mobile bosses.

PvP Crowning Duologue God Roll

The best perks for the Crowning Duologue PvP God Roll are Hard Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Impulse Amplifier, and Chain Reaction. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Crowning Duologue PVP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Launcher Barrel: Hard Launch
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Column 3 Trait: Impulse Amplifier
  • Column 4 Trait: Chain Reaction
  • Masterwork: Velocity
  • Origin Trait: Dreamwork
  • Weapon Mod: Quick Access Sling

PvP God Roll Breakdown

While unique in PvP, Crowning Duologue is far from the only weapon of its archetype in PvP. Rockets benefit greatly from a higher velocity stat in PvP, as it is much harder to dodge an attack that’s coming at you fast. Hard Launch and High-Velocity Rounds both increase the velocity by the highest possible amount. Build into this further with a Velocity masterwork and throw on a Quick Access Sling mod to swap to it faster, which can be life or death in the fast-paced PvP of Destiny 2.

The main perks in Columns 3 and 4 are powerful standard fare for PvP. Impulse Amplifier makes the rocket fired from the Crowning Duologue ridiculously fast. Chain Reaction just grants the weapon the ability to cause secondary explosions, which can help clean up any survivors of the initial hit. That being said, however, this combination is not unique in any way and can be found on several other precision frame rocket launchers. Due to the Crowning Duologue’s limited time of availability, you are better off using another precision frame rocket, such as the craftable Palmyra-B.

How to Use the Crowning Duologue in PvP

Just like in PvE, precision frame rocket launchers like Crowning Duologue are considered to be decent weapons for PvP. Their innate tracking is much more helpful for tracking another player, and the damage loss makes virtually no difference in PvP. For the most part, Rocket launchers of any frame are essentially one free instant kill provided you hit your shot anywhere around an enemy guardian. That being said you only get one rocket from a Heavy Ammo Spawn, so you have to make your shot count.

At the present time, Rocket launchers have fallen out of favor in PvP. Grenade launchers and machine guns have become more popular as they can get multiple kills with only one load from a Heavy Ammo Spawn. While this may be true, that doesn’t mean that rockets don’t have their place in the PvP sandbox. Players need to just be extra careful and fire the rocket at the best opportunity. Precision frame rockets do help with that problem with their ability to track their target.
