Destiny 2 Yesterday’s Question God Roll Guide

Keen Thistle is a solar aggressive frame sniper rifle introduced into the Trials of Osiris playlist during Episode Heresy. Sniper rifles are effective in both PvE and PvP for most content. Aggressive frame sniper rifles are the least used option for sniper rifles in the sandbox as they hit hard, but they are slow on the draw and fire rate. The Keen Thistle has an Adept version that can be earned and both versions of the weapon can be enhanced. This guide will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Keen Thistle sniper rifle.

How to Get Keen Thistle in Destiny 2

You obtain Keen Thistle from any Trials of Osiris reward source. This includes the Weekly challenges for winning 7 matches and winning rounds. It can also randomly drop from Trials engrams. Keen Thiste (Adept) can only be earned on the weeks that it is the featured weapon. The better you do on your Trials Passage, the more likely it is to drop. Once the weapon has been earned you can focus it at Saint-14 for Trials Engrams and Glimmer. The Adept version can only be focused on the Weeks it is the weekly Flawless reward and only with 10 Osirian Ciphers.

Trials of Osiris can be accessed in the Crucible node from the daily reset on Friday until the weekly reset on Tuesday. There are exceptions to Trials availability. Examples include weeks when the Iron Banner is active and during Raid or Dungeon launch weekends.

What Is the Keen Thistle God Roll in Destiny 2?

Despite its less than ideal frame, the Keen Thistle actually has quite a few good rolls for both PvE and PvP. The aggressive frame sniper rifle has a powerful PvE god roll utilizing the Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch. This will synergize really well with a heavy weapon with the same roll. The PvP roll is arguably even better, with a couple powerful options that will make the Keen Thistle feel very good even for an aggressive frame sniper rifle.

PvE Keen Thistle God Roll

The best perks for the Keen Thistle PvE God Roll are Fluted Barrel, Appended Mag, Envious Arsenal, and Bait and Switch. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Keen Thistle PvE God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Fluted Barrel
  • Magazine: Appended Mag
    • Adept Flex: Tactical Mag
  • Column 3 Trait: Envious Arsenal
  • Column 4 Trait: Bait and Switch
  • Masterwork: Handling
  • Origin Trait: Alacrity
  • Weapon Mod: Backup Mag
    • Adept Mod: Adept Mag

PvE Breakdown

The Keen Thistle has a couple really great rolls for PvE. If you get either one of them, they are worth keeping. To make them worth while to the fullest, make sure you get a decent barrel and magazine to get those extra boosts to your stats. Fluted Barrel will increase the handling of the Keen Thistle, which in turn makes the weapon both draw and aim down sites faster. Depending on whether you you have the Adept version of the weapon or not, you will want either Appended Mag or Tactical Mag to maximize your magazine size.

There are two really great rolls for the Keen Thistle for PvE. The first is the powerful combination of Envious Assassin and Bait and Switch. This combination will pair well with a heavy weapon with exact same traits basically making you swap between each one and then firing them out until switching back. The other powerful roll is Triple Tap combined with Fourth Times the Charm. This will reload so many bullets back into magazine that you could just about fire off every bit of your reserves provided you don’t miss a shot.

Other PvE Rolls of Note

  • Triple Tap/Fourth Times the Charm
    • Allows for the firing of all ammo in one go provided you don’t miss.

PvP Keen Thistle God Roll

The best perks for the Keen Thistle PvP God Roll are Fluted Barrel, Accurized Rounds, Lone Wolf, and Closing Time. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Keen Thistle PvP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Fluted Barrel
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Column 3 Trait: Lone Wolf
  • Column 4 Trait: Closing Time
  • Masterwork: Handling
  • Origin Trait: Alacrity
  • Weapon Mod: Quick Access Sling
    • Adept Mod: Adept Handling

PvP Breakdown

The Keen Thistle may have been made to be the ultimate PvP sniper rifle. It has a sure thing god roll that only has some traits in Column 3 that may be debatable. Make sure you get the handling and range as high as you can get by taking traits such as Fluted Barrel and Accurized Rounds. A Handling masterwork combined with a Quick Access Sling mod will increase the draw time of the weapon as well.

The main traits of the Keen Thistle sniper rifle are where it gets really interesting for the Crucible. Column 4 has a sure fire pick in Closing Time, a trait that has quickly become best in slot for almost any special weapon it is on. While Opening Shot is also found here, Closing time is just better in general for everything. Its Column 3 where there is some amount of debate on what the best trait option is. Snapshot Sights are here but I’m not sure if that is necessary pick unless you just really need it to get some quick scope kills. The real debate depends on whether or not you get Lone Wolf or Under Pressure. We are going with Lone Wolf for now, but if testing shows Under Pressure as the better option we will update our roll when that becomes known.
