Destiny 2 Line in the Sand Linear Fusion Rifle

This guide has been updated for Episode: Echoes and The Final Shape expansion.

Line in the Sand is an arc precision frame linear fusion rifle from Season of the Dawn reintroduced in Destiny 2 Episode I: Echoes Act I. This reprised weapon is an old favorite, being the first truly viable linear fusion rifle for end-game content. While not breaking the game at all, Line in the Sand is a great addition to the sandbox (pun absolutely intended) and is worth grabbing a couple of good rolls.

The best perks for the Line in the Sand PVE God Roll are Arrowhead Brake, Ionized Battery, Rapid Hit, and Bait and Switch. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Line in the Sand PVE God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Ionized Battery
  • Column 3 Trait: Rapid Hit
  • Column 4 Trait: Bait and Switch
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed
  • Origin Trait: Cast No Shadows
  • Weapon Mod: Back-Up Mag

Like almost all PvE rolls, we want to increase our magazine size to keep shots going off without needing to reload. Ionized Battery combined with a Back-Up Mag mod gets 7 shots in the mag. This makes Rapid Hit essential as otherwise the reload speed on the Line in the Sand will just be atrocious. Bait and Switch is the best damage perk here for most situations, but if you want a more unique roll, Resevior Burst is a great option.

Line in the Sand isn’t shaking up the meta by any means, but it looks to be a solid addition to the game. Please note you can get double perks even on Columns 3 and 4 with this weapon if you complete Enigma Protocol. Getting a Rapid Hit/Clown Cartridge and Resevior Burst/Bait and Switch roll would get you the best of both worlds if you want a perfect combination.

The best perks for the Line in the Sand PVP God Roll are Hammer-Forged Rifling, Projection Fuse, Under Pressure, and Opening Shot. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Line in the Sand PVP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Projection Fuse
  • Column 3 Trait: Under Pressure
  • Column 4 Trait: Opening Shot
  • Masterwork: Range
  • Origin Trait: Cast No Shadows
  • Weapon Mod: Targeting Adjuster

Line in the Sand is an interesting weapon to bring into PvP. Heavy Linears aren’t often used in the current meta because of their charge time, but this weapon has the perfect trait combination to make it decent. Under Pressure and Opening Shot make the first shot this weapon fires have great accuracy and stability. While not shaking up the meta, it is a viable option.

Linear Fusion Rifles aren’t often chosen over the more easy to use options like machine guns and grenade launchers, but that doesn’t mean they are worthless. Overall, the Line in the Sand is worth a try if you like Precision weapons. Don’t spend all your time grinding for the perfect roll though.
