Destiny 2 Mindbender's Ambition Shotgun

Destiny 2 Mindbender’s Ambition God Roll and How to Get

Welcome to our Destiny 2 Mindbender’s Ambition God Roll and How to Get guide. The Mindbender’s Ambition is an Aggressive Frame Solar Shotgun that can be obtained as a weekly Nightfall playlist. This weapon has an Adept version that can be earned from completing the Nightfall on Grandmaster difficulty. It is a decent energy slot shotgun, that while is no longer in its glory days, is still a decent pick up.

Why You Should Get the Mindbender’s Ambition Shotgun

You should get the Mindbender’s Ambition Shotgun because it is a decent weapon to have for both PvE and PvP. It is currently the only Aggressive Frame Shotgun that deals Solar damage. The shotgun rolls with the powerful combo of Pugilist and One-Two Punch. It can pair well with Solar Builds with either that combo or Incandescent. While it is no longer the best in slot choice for shotguns any more, it is still decent in PvP. If the player is skillful enough, they can also acquire the Adept version of the weapon, allowing the use of powerful Adept Mods. Here is our list of why you should get the Mindbender’s Ambition Shotgun:

  • Only Solar Aggressive Frame Shotgun currently
  • Can be powerful with Solar Builds
  • Decent Perk Pool for PvE
  • Decent pick for Energy Shotgun PvP

How to Obtain the Mindbender’s Ambition

Mindbender’s Ambition is currently only available as a Legacy Nightfall Weapon from Commander Zavala. You will have to purchase it with Vanguard Emblems to obtain it. The Adept version of this weapon is currently not obtainable.

PvE Mindbender’s Ambition God Roll

BarrelSmallbore
MagazineAssault Mag
Column 3 TraitPugilist
Column 4 TraitOne-Two Punch
Origin TraitVanguard’s Vindication
MasterworkRange
ModAdept Big Ones Spec/Major Spec

Barrel: Barrel perks on shotguns in Destiny 2 is probably one of the most argued about topics in the entire game. This roll just is keeping it simple with Smallbore. A buff to Range and Stability at no cost and no weird change to pellet spread.

Magazine: In PvE, Assault Mag is always the best choice. Being able to fire faster is just amazing for damaging large targets and taking out the smaller combatants as well.

Column 3 Trait: While an argument could be made here for Threat Detector, Pugilist just pairs really well with the perk we will be using in Column 4.

Column 4 Trait: When it comes to shotgun perks in PvE, One-Two Punch is almost always (but not quite always) the best option. Especially when paired with certain Hunter subclasses. Incandescent also has some great potential here. Vorpal Weapon while not terrible, is still not the best choice for this gun.

Origin Trait: Vanguard’s Vindication is the most useful trait in this column for most content; however, in content that has champions, Stunning Recovery can be useful as well.

Masterwork: The only really wrong choice for a Masterwork on this weapon is Stability. Anything else will give it a nice boost to its relatively low stats.

Mods: Shotguns will take out most minor combatants without any sort of damage boost, so Major Spec and Adept Big Ones Spec are the better choice for this weapon.

Conclusion: While this weapon used to be the absolute best in slot choice for shotgun users in PvP long ago, its new perk pool has definitely put it as more of a PvE weapon. That being said its not exactly a powerhouse, and there are other easier to acquire weapons that can do the job just as well.

PvP Mindbender’s Ambition God Roll

BarrelSmallbore
MagazineAssault Mag/Accurized Rounds
Column 3 TraitThreat Detector/Surplus
Column 4 TraitSteady Hands
Origin TraitOmolon Fluid Dynamics
MasterworkRange
ModAdept Range/Quick Access Sling

Barrel: Barrel perks on shotguns in Destiny 2 is probably one of the most argued about topics in the entire game. This roll just is keeping it simple with Smallbore. A buff to Range and Stability at no cost and no weird change to pellet spread.

Magazine: Another argument for Shotguns in PvP is over which one is better, Assault Mag or Accurized Rounds. Honestly, the jury is still out, but consider either option a great choice.

Column 3 Trait: Threat Detector is an amazing perk on shotguns in PvP, but Surplus is no slouch either. Either one of these perks will do amazing work. Slideways and Snapshot Sights are okay perks, but are definitely inferior.

Column 4 Trait: Nothing really stands out in Column 4 which is what makes Mindbender’s Ambition a shell of its former glory. When Steady Hands is the best option, that means that there aren’t many good choices.

Origin Trait: Vanguard’s Vindication won’t do much for any one in PvP, but not much is still better than the nothing Stunning Recovery would offer.

Masterwork: Getting the Range stat up as high as it will go is absolutely the choice here.

Mods: On the normal version of this weapon, Quick Access Sling is a great choice for fast swaps. For the Adept verison, Adept Range will put this weapon almost to its maximum, although it may still be best to just keep using Quick Access Sling.

Conclusion: How the mighty have fallen. This thing is no where near as good as it used to be, and its but a shell of what it was. It can work but there are other much better PvP shotguns. Just craft Imperial Decree.
