This guide has been updated for Episodes Echoes and the Final Shape Expansion.
Welcome to our Destiny 2 Succession and How to Get guide. The Succession is a kinetic aggressive frame sniper rifle launched with the release of the Deep Stone Crypt raid. This sniper rifle comes packed with strong damage perks, and it’s one of the best special ammo weapons for boss damage in the game.
Sniper rifles have always had a place in PVE due to their high damage output, and that special ammo is often more readily available than heavy ammo. In PVP, they are incredibly strong one-shot precision kill weapons, letting you turn the tide of any engagements.

How to Obtain Succession
Succession is obtained in the Deep Stone Crypt raid from the Beyond Light Expansion. Specifically, it has a chance to drop from the second encounter. Once acquired for the first time, it has a chance to drop from the two hidden chests as well. Every drop has a chance to drop with Deepsight Resonance, which can be extracted to unlock the pattern for crafting the weapon. After the final encounter, a loot chest can be interacted with to focus the weapon with Spoils of Conquest, provided the weapon has been obtained before and unlocked in collections. Once per week, the first weapon focused this way will have guaranteed Deepsight Resonance.

Succession PvE God Roll Perks Explained
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Arrowhead Brake. This will give you better recoil direction giving you a better opportunity to land back-to-back shots. It also gives a small boost in weapon handling allowing you to swap to this weapon more quickly for damage.
Magazine: With the magazine, we are going to improve the weapons reload and stability and give it a few extra bullets choosing Tactical Mag. This will give us the maximum amount of bullets in our magazine.
Column 3 Perk: Our third column choice is Reconstruction. After not firing the weapon, whether stowed or equipped, the magazine will slowly refill to twice the amount of the base magazine. This gives us a lot of bullets to fire for damage phases then swap to another weapon while it reloads itself.
Column 4 Perk: For our final column perk, Firing Line is the must have. This perk gives us a sizable damage boost while simply standing near at least two allies making it very strong in all group content.
Masterwork: Our obvious choice for masterwork is Handling this will allow us to swap to the weapon faster to empty our magazine then swap to another weapon faster to continue damage.
Mod: For the mod, we are choosing Boss spec. This gives small damage boost to boss level enemies which are our primary target for this weapon.
Conclusion
Sniper rifles can sometimes be hit or miss in PVE, never reaching their full potential but never being weak either. However, they can be an incredibly strong choice in PVE due to their high damage and ammo availability. Paired with some easy to use damage perks and magazine perks this is one of the strongest snipers currently in the game.
PVP Succession God Roll

Slot | Perk |

Perk 1 | Moving Target |
Perk 2 | Snapshot Sights |
Origin Trait | Bray Inheritance |
Masterwork | Handling |

Succession PvP God Roll Perks Explained
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Fluted Barrel. This gives a sizable boost to our handling and stability allowing us to draw and aim down sights after and reduce our flinch from incoming fire.
Magazine: Accurized Rounds are the choice for our mag. Accurized Rounds give a massive boost to the range stat which increases the range at which aim assist will fall off. This gives you the greater chance to land your shots from even farther.
Column 3 Perk: We are going with Moving Target. Moving Target gives a boost in your aim assist as well as gives a speed increase while aiming down sights. Since the common method of gunfights include moving to the left and right erratically to make your enemies miss, this perk can give you the edge in any engagement.
Column 4 Perk: For our final perk, we are going with Snapshot Sights. This vastly increases our aim down sights speeds so you can target your enemy before they even know they are in your sights.
Masterwork: Handling masterwork is a must have. This masterwork allows us to ready and aim down sights faster which could give you a small advantage in your engagements.
Mod: Targeting Adjuster is a great choice here. This gives a small boost in your aim assist making your bullets more likely to hit the target.
Conclusion
Sniper rifles are incredibly strong in PVP due to their one hit precision kills. Paired with a close to mid range primary ammo weapon, you are sure to have something suitable for any engagement. With a little bit of aim and practice, you can truly make Shaxx proud.
