Learn about the Zephyr God Roll for PVE and PVP content, the best perks, and how to get it in this Destiny 2 guide!
Zephyr is a stasis adaptive frame sword reintroduced in Episode: Revenant for the 2024 Dawning event. There have been several iterations of this weapon since the very first Dawning event, but only the most current one is available. Adaptive frame swords are the most common and easiest to use swords in the game. They are typically used for sustained damage against large targets like bosses at extremely close range. This guide will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Zephyr sword.
How to Get Zephyr in Destiny 2
You obtain Zephyr by using the Gifts in Return consumables you receive from giving Dawning Cookies to various NPCs. Turn in those Gifts in Return for Festive Engrams or use them to focus the weapon at Eva Levante in the Tower. You need unlock the appropriate Dawning upgrades to focus the weapon. You must unlock the Giftwrap Exchange Ticket upgrade to turn them in for Festive Engrams, and the Limited Exchange Ticket upgrade to focus the weapon. This weapon can only be obtained during the Dawning event, so get it while you can.
You can unlock multiple trait selections on this weapon by getting the Perky Presents and Perkier Presents Dawning upgrades.
What Is the Zephyr God Roll in Destiny 2?
God rolls are highly sought after because they are typically the best combination of stats and traits available on a particular weapon. Because the sandbox differs in PvE and PvP, there are typically god rolls for each one. Swords almost all have the same effective god rolls, but this particular sword does have a unique stasis synergy roll. While you can get a decent Zephyr for PvP, swords are very niche choices that aren’t favored in the sandbox.
PvE Zephyr God Roll

The following list is the best perks for the Zephyr PvE God Roll in Destiny 2:
- Blade: Jagged Edge
- Guard: Balanced Guard
- Column 3 Trait: Rimestealer
- Column 4 Trait: Cold Steel
- Masterwork: Impact
- Origin Trait: Dawning Surprise
- Weapon Mod: Backup Mag
PvE Breakdown
Swords are one of the simplest weapons in the game regarding what a good roll is and what a bad one is. Typically you want to increase the total amount of damage a sword can do as quickly as possible. This makes perks like Whirlwind Blade and Relentless Strikes the go-to perks as they increase damage and the amount of hits a sword can do. The Zephyr has those traits but it also has a Stasis synergy roll that makes it unique.
Almost all swords benefit from the increased damage from Jagged Edge, Zephyr among them. The guard selection on the Zephyr is less important as the charge rate and guard endurance don’t directly build into this sword’s use case. Balanced Guard is a nice average choice but you can really go with your own preference here. You have no choice when it comes to masterwork or origin trait, but they both are helpful so you aren’t missing out on anything.
As stated earlier, you could very much just take Whirlwind Blade and Relentless Strikes and call it a day, but there are so many swords with that combination that it is not necessarily worth chasing. Instead go for a Stasis synergy roll with Rimestealer and Cold Steel. Rimestealer can help with survival by granting Frost Armor stacks. Cold Steel not only will slow enemies, but it will also make the sword effective against overload champions. The Zephyr is going to have a completely different use case than other swords, and that actually makes it more desirable than most other swords.
PvP Zephyr God Roll
The best perks for the Zephyr PvP God Roll are Enduring Blade, Enduring Guard, Lone Wolf, and Tap the Trigger. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.
The following list is the best perks for the Zephyr PvP God Roll in Destiny 2:
- Blade: Enduring Blade
- Guard: Enduring Guard
- Column 3 Trait: Valiant Guard
- Column 4 Trait: Chain Reaction
- Masterwork: Impact
- Origin Trait: Dawning Surprise
- Weapon Mod: Dawning Surprise
PvP Breakdown
Swords in general are not typical choices in PvP. They require that you use your heavy ammo on a very risky close-range attack. Now swords do get easy kills when they can be used effectively, but getting into the perfect position to pull that off can be difficult.
Since swords function about the same no matter what blade and guard you use, really any one of them will work just as well as the other. Enduring Blade and Enduring Guard will grant the most useful benefits with more ammo and more shields respectively, but the difference will be minimal. Valiant Guard will allow for some interesting guard and hit plays by increasing your lunge distance after blocking a shot, but this will be a risky move to try to pull off. Chain Reaction will allow some damage against groups when you can sneak in with a sword final blow, but again this is another risky play.
Overall, swords require very risky playstyles in PvP that can be rewarding but are very difficult to pull off. If its something you enjoy though it can be fun. Note that the Zephyr may not the easiest sword to get this god roll on.
