There are five different difficulty settings in South of Midnight, that allow you to customize your experience with the game. First, more relaxed settings are designed to let players explore the rich narrative and world at their own pace. Furthermore, you can also choose intense, high-stakes challenges that push you to your limits. Moreover, this also includes the ability to use a custom feature to set difficulty features much more specifically.
The five total difficulty settings in South of Midnight are:
- Scryer (Story): Focus on the story and remove all challenge from combat.
- Healer (Easy): Focus on the story while enjoying accessible combat.
- Weaver (Balanced): Balanced combat experience.
- Grand Weaver (Advanced): Harder, more intense combat challenge.
- Custom Tapestry: Custom mode.
Finally, you can change the difficulty settings of your game at any time during your play-through. Simply pause the game to pull up the menu, and the Difficulty option is three up from the bottom. However, if you are in the middle of a fight, changing the difficulty may reset the combat. Therefore, you’ll have to start that particular battle other. Otherwise, the changes are immediate and can always be changed again later.

The Custom Difficulty setting gives you lots of options and ways to adjust different aspects of combat. The custom difficulty settings in South of Midnight allow players to adjust various gameplay elements. This includes combat difficulty, enemy intelligence, damage taken and dealt, and even player invincibility. Furthermore, most custom difficulty settings will give you these four options:
- Reduced
- Balanced
- Increased
- Strongly Increased
Are There Difficulty Level Achievements in South of Midnight?
There are no achievements that are tied directly to difficulty levels in South of Midnight. Therefore, to get 100% in SoM, you do not have to beat the game on the Grand Weaver setting.
However, you unlock three achievements by defeating certain bosses without taking any damage. These include Two-Toed Tom, the Rougarou, and Huggin’ Molly. Depending on your skill level, this could be a very difficult trophy to earn.
