Does Gojo Tell Megumi About Toji in Jujutsu Kaisen? This is a question that fans have wondered about for a long time. In fact, telling Megumi the truth about his father was one of the many things that Satoru Gojo had on his mind in his afterlife scene. The moment that fans had been anticipating for a long time finally happened in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268. Apparently, Gojo had prepared letters for both Megumi and Nobara and had entrusted Shoko Ieri to give it to them in case of his death.
However, in his letter to Megumi, Gojo did not explicitly tell him about Toji. Instead, he jokingly revealed and apologized for killing Megumi’s father, which showcased his dark sense of humor. While this moment came across as a rather funny and lighthearted revelation, it ended up disappointing many.
Gojo’s History With Toji in Jujutsu Kaisen
Satoru Gojo and Toji Fushiguro share a brief yet bitter history that had an immense impact on Jujutsu Kaisen‘s narrative. In the Hidden Inventory/Gojo’s Past arc, Toji was introduced as the “Sorcerer Killer.” He was a non-curse user from the Zen’in Clan who was ostracized throughout his life due to his lack of Cursed Energy. However, Toji’s Heavenly Restriction gifted him with extraordinary physical abilities, allowing him to become a deadly and fearsome assassin in the jujutsu world.
In his first encounter with Gojo, Toji brutally defeated the latter and left him on the brink of death. He then went on to assassinate Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel under Gojo and Geto’s protection, and brutalize Geto in the process as well. That said, Gojo’s near-death experience led to him learning the usage of the Reverse Cursed Technique, which resulted in his awakening as the strongest sorcerer.
Gojo then proceeded to effortlessly defeat Toji in their final battle, which cemented their tragic connection. Toji’s death left a mark on Gojo’s life forever, not just due to their two impactful battles but also due to Toji’s connection to his son Megumi, whose responsibility he seemingly handed over to Gojo moments before his demise.
Gojo and Megumi’s Relationship in Jujutsu Kaisen
As per Megumi’s own words, Gojo is simply a benefactor to him and his sister Tsumiki. Both of them were taken in by Gojo at a young age, who prevented them from being sold off to the Zen’in clan after Toji’s death. That said, their relationship is much deeper than it seems at first glance.
After taking Megumi in at Jujutsu High, Gojo assumed full responsibility for Megumi and became his mentor. At that time, he was barely an adult himself. However, Gojo recognized Megumi’s potential as a sorcerer and took it upon himself to ensure that both Megumi and his sister were taken care of.
As his mentor, Gojo often pushed Megumi to go beyond his limits and challenged him to realize his own strength. Despite never expressing his feelings and concern in a normal manner, his protectiveness and underlying sense of responsibility for Megumi suggest that he may have felt a deeper connection to him. Gojo also acknowledged Megumi to be one of the few people who could potentially rival his strength and perhaps surpass him one day.
Megumi’s Relationship With Toji in Jujutsu Kaisen
By nature, the relationship between Megumi and Toji is simply that of a child and his biological father. Other than that, it is mostly nonexistent. This is because, after his wife’s death, Toji abandoned Megumi and prepared to sell him off to the Zen’in clan. As such, Megumi grew up without knowing much about his father. While he didn’t harbor much resentment against him for abandoning him, he also had no interest in learning more about him or his whereabouts.
However, Toji cared about Megumi in his own way. Knowing that he couldn’t afford to give Megumi a good life, Toji tried to give Megumi away to the Zen’in clan, as he thought his son could have a comparatively better life there than him due to his potential as a jujutsu sorcerer. In his dying moments, Toji understood his mistake and tried to correct it by subtly handing over the responsibility of his son to Gojo.
Lastly, during their fight in the Shibuya Incident arc, Toji was relieved once he realized that Megumi hadn’t been sold off to the Zen’in clan after all. With the knowledge that his son was able to live a better life than him, Toji decided to end his own life, finding solace in the hope that Megumi managed to escape the harsh fate he himself had endured.
How Gojo Told Megumi About Toji
In their first meeting, Gojo tried to tell Megumi the truth about his father and the fact that he was the one who killed him. However, he couldn’t do so since Megumi flat-out told him he wasn’t interested in learning about his father.
That said, in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, Gojo was finally able to convey the truth about Toji to Megumi. In the letter that he had left for Megumi, Gojo revealed in an apologetic yet joking manner that Megumi’s father was dead since Gojo had killed him. This revelation caught Megumi off-guard, who visibly burst out laughing upon reading it. Since this moment of truth did not play out as many fans had expected, they felt disappointed that Gojo never got to have a proper conversation with Megumi about Toji.

Although many fans were let down with the way Gojo revealed the truth about Toji to Megumi, there were some who were able to appreciate the humorous manner in which he did it. It’s also worth noting that Megumi wasn’t concerned with or even interested in learning the truth about his father in the first place, which makes the revelation less dreadful than many make it out to be.
