Right as the battle was inching toward its conclusion, Yuji expanded his Domain, trapping Ryomen Sukuna inside it. As far as appearance was concerned, the domain looked like a train station. However, it was later revealed that the domain was not limited to the location but showcased the entire town where Yuji lived in the past.
Using the domain, Yuji Itadori effectively led Ryomen Sukuna through his memories growing up. With this, the protagonist wanted to show Sukuna what kind of life the King of Curses considered meaningless. As expected, Sukuna did not care for it and prepared to kill Yuji. It was then revealed that Yuji was pitying Sukuna and was trying to give him a final chance before he could kill him.
As far as the domain’s sure hit attack was concerned, it was never revealed. Yuji fought Sukuna for quite a while inside the domain. Following that, he hit him with his Black Flash. This move saw the domain come undone as Yuji successfully split Sukuna’s soul from Megumi Fushiguro’s body.
How Many Times Does Yuji Expand His Domain in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Yuji Itadori expands his domain only once in the entire Jujutsu Kaisen series. As mentioned above, Yuji Itadori used his domain for the first time near the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown. Following that, Yuji was presented with no other opportunity to use his newly obtained ability.
The reason Yuji could only use his domain once was because before the Shinjuku Showdown, he never truly got the opportunity to train himself. Any growth he showcased previously was the one he developed while being in battle.
Therefore, with the Jujutsu Sorcerers being granted a month’s worth of time to train themselves before the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuji was finally able to train with Atsuya Kusakabe to develop his Domain. This is why Sukuna was the only person on whom Yuji could use his Domain Expansion ability.
The Controversy Over Yuji’s Domain
The biggest controversy over Yuji Itadori’s Domain was the way it was treated by manga creator Gege Akutami. After witnessing Satoru Gojo’s Domain back at the start of the series, the fans had always wanted to see how Yuji’s domain would look and function.
Nevertheless, despite a wait of over 250 manga chapters, the manga creator did not pen Yuji’s domain the way it should have been. Up until now, Gege Akutami had extensively explained details surrounding a Jujutsu and abilities even if they were those of supporting character. However, when it was finally time for the protagonist Yuji Itadori’s most awaited ability, the manga creator seemingly couldn’t care less.
Neither did the manga creator give the domain a name or explain how it worked. On top of that, the manga never explained what was Yuji’s sure-hit attack within the domain. While the protagonist’s Black Flash saw the domain come undone, the manga creator never bothered to explain what happened. Therefore, it can be said with certainty that Gege Akutami failed Yuji Itadori in his most significant moment.
Even if the manga did not explain his ability during the battle, the creator had another four chapters to explain how the protagonist’s most awaited ability worked. Needless to say, the creator never explained it. Hopefully, Gege Akutami might explain Yuji Itadori’s domain in a databook or other promotional material in the future.
