In Chapter 2 of Dynasty Warriors Origin, a major story battle is the Rebellion of the Ten Attendants. In it, you will have to face off against the Ten Regular Attendants, who were once the emperor’s most trusted high-ranking officials. However, with time, they became corrupt. So, in the Rebellion of the Ten Attendants, you and many other higher-ranking officials will go up against the corrupt officials and look to rescue the emperor from their clutches.
This guide will help you undertake this quest and complete it. We will also share tips and tricks to ensure you make it through the battle easily.
Win Conditions for Rebellion of the Ten Attendants
The quest starts out with two goals that you must achieve to win the battle. These are:
- Rescue the emperor
- Defeat all ten attendants
However, shortly after the battle begins, you will find that the Emperor is missing. So, the only win condition will be to defeat all the attendants.
Loss Conditions for Rebellion of the Ten Attendants
You will fail the mission if Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, or Diaochan flees from battle. So, if you notice that they are struggling, you have to immediately go and help them to prevent a battle loss.
Unlocking the Rebellion of the Ten Attendants in Dynasty Warrior Origins
You can begin the quest right after completing the Protection of Wang Yun quest. Once the cutscene ends, you can head to Luoyang to begin this battle. When you interact with the flag there, another cutscene will start where Yuan Shao will reveal the plans for the upcoming battle.
Rebellion of the Ten Attendants: Complete Walkthrough
The battle is relatively simple and you have the option to tackle it alone. However, teaming up with Xiahou Dun can make it easier.
- Defeat Cheng Kuang
- Locate the hidden passage
- Defeat each of the remaining attendants
Now, let’s take a detailed look at how you should progress through the battle.
1. Defeat Cheng Kuang
You will encounter Cheng Kuang, the first of the ten attendants, shortly after entering the castle. He fights with a long polearm and has a retinue of guards with him. However, they shouldn’t pose too much of a threat to you. After you dispense of the guards and the attendant, keep heading forward along the path. But, you will soon encounter a cutscene where Yuan Shao will inform you that the way ahead is barred. Don’t worry as there is a secret path in this area.
2. Locate the Hidden Passage
Use the Eyes of the Sacred Bird ability to scan around to spot a glowing wall nearby. Interacting with the dragon crest on this wall will help unlock the secret passage. Follow along the path and you will soon arrive at a courtyard. After a fight with a Defender Captain, you will reach the Throne Room only to discover that the Emperor is missing.
At this juncture, Yuan Shao and Cao Cao will split up. The former will head east, while Cao Cao will make his way to the west. You should follow Yuan Shao.
3. Defeat Each of the Remaining Attendants
Here is an efficient way of tackling each of the remaining attendants:
Duan Gui and He Miao
In the eastern part of the map, you will encounter two more attendants, Duan Gui and He Miao. You can take them both down easily, but remember that He Miao is armed with a longsword and Duan Gui uses a tactician’s fan. Make sure to counter their attacks to make the fight easier during the Rebellion of the Attendants quest.
Cao Jie
The next attendant on your list should be Cao Jie. He is in the northeastern building. The eunuch has a polearm for his attacks and also uses a bonus level of fortitude. But, your Falcon Flurry attacks should be able to get through his defenses and take him down easily.
Xia Yun
Remember where you took down He Miao and Duan Gui? Head to that same location and use the Eyes of the Sacred Bird to highlight the entrance to the Treasure Room. Inside this room, you will discover Xia Yun along with a group of enemy soldiers. Discovering them will lower their courage. Xia Yun will attack you with daggers. Taking him down shouldn’t be too problematic.
Guo Sheng
Come out of the Treasure Room and head down the stairs. You will discover Guo Sheng being engaged by your companions. Slay the attendant and move on.
Jian Shuo
The seventh attendant in the battle, Jian Shuo, poses a considerable challenge. Armed with Battle Gauntlets, the foe will rain kicks and punches down on you. Make sure to counter these. Also, beware of his extra fortitude. Make sure to attack the attendant alongside Xiahou Dun and Yuan Shao to stand a better chance at chipping away at his abnormally large health bar.
Hou Lan
After Jian Shao is defeated, head through the door that leads to the southern room. There, a large group of enemies await alongside the eighth attendant, Hou Lan. Undoubtedly, Hou Lan is the most challenging attendant in the Rebellion of the Ten Attendants. So, try to save your Rage Mode to this portion of the quest. Unleash a powerful Rage Musou to drain Hou Lan’s health quickly. Alternatively, you can switch to Xiahou Dun to use his Musou attacks.
Zhao Zhong
After Hou Lan is killed, make your exit through the eastern gate. In this area, open the central prison cell to discover the ninth attendant Zhao Zhong. You should have an easy time taking down this foe.
Feng Xu, the tenth attendant, is usually dealt with by Cao Cao much earlier when the team splits up in the Throne Room. So, you don’t have to worry about him.
Rewards for Completing Rebellion of the Ten Attendants
You will acquire the following rewards from the battle.
- Weapon proficiency
- Weapons
- Mount EXP
- Skill Points
However, the exact weapons or the extent of experience gained will depend on the number of enemies you slay during the battle.
