Unlocking the Wei True Ending Route in Dynasty Warriors Origins will have you fight two battles (after having already completed the game once with the Wei faction), after which a new event will be available in the Battle of Chibi. In this guide, we will go over everything you need to do in each of these battles to get to that alternate ending.

For those unaware, each of the Dynasty Warriors Origins factions (Wu, Wei, and Shu) has its own true endings that are available to be unlocked once you have beaten the game at least once with that particular group. The requirements differ from faction to faction.

How To Unlock Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending Route

There are two battles involved in unlocking the True Ending Route for Wei in Dynasty Warriors Origins – the Battle of Wan Castle and the Battle of Bailang.

The Battle of Wan Castle

Once you have completed the main story with the Wei faction, go back to Chapter 3 in Story Mode. You will notice a Golden Banner there that will prompt you to replay this battle. Once you are in, your primary objective is to make sure Dian Wei, the bodyguard of Cao Cao, doesn’t die. This is easier said than done, and we do advise the Historian difficulty to tackle this objective. You should also pick Guo Jia as your Partner.

To ensure that Dian Wei survives, you will have to be extremely quick about the battlefield – we time it at about ten to twelve minutes at max. Once the battle begins, head to the upper northeast portion of the map and claim the base there. With that done, your focus will then be occupied with the coming reinforcements. You will find a handful of officers in the middle of the map whom you will need to quickly defeat.

As Dian Wei defeats the first officer inside Wan Castle, reinforcements will be arriving in the south. Head to meet them immediately and defeat them as quickly as possible. With that done, head northwest and take the base there, which will initiate the ladder-making process. Guo Jia is required for this bit and thus was recommended earlier.

You will be able to use the ladder to get into the castle, so keep riding towards the latter as the former is prepared. Once the ladder is ready, get into the castle. There are quite a few officers (Jiang Xia, Zhang Xiu, and Zhang Quan) on the premises, and you are in for an exhausting fight. Having dispatched them, head east to square up against the Huche’er.

In our experience, you are doing fine if the following dialog prompt comes up:

“Oh? What are you doing here? I thought your mission was to save Cao Cao, was it not? Surely you don’t mean to rescue his bodyguard? What foolishness. Even if you beat all of us, you’d never succeed!”

If instead reinforcement is called against Dian Wei, well then you will have to restart the whole process again. Once Dian Wei says that the enemy numbers are thinning, you will get the “Fate Altered” prompt and can complete the chapter. This ticks off the first requirement for the Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending Route.

Battle of Bailang

With the Battle of Wan Castle part done, go to Chapter 5, and you will be able to see another golden banner there for this battle. We again recommend the Historian difficulty and Guo Jia as the Partner. Your focus would be to keep Guo Jia alive and save Dian Wei.

Head northwest and open the gate to move south. In the base in the south, defeat Nengchendizhi and move west. You will encounter a base in the northwest that you will need to clear quickly. Following that, keep heading north to the base with Nanlou and two other officers. The plan remains the same – defeat them and move ahead on the path.

Post this, you will need to defeat Bailuan, following which you will be poised for an Ambush with your army towards the north. If you are riding quickly enough, you will reach it before the ambush is complete. The “Fate Altered” prompt will appear.

Next, you will need to quickly defeat Lou Ban, Supuyan, Wu Yan, and Ta Dun. Once you do so, you will have to defeat Yuan Shang. You can choose to ignore his army if you want and just focus on beating him. With this objective completed, you will have to win the duel against Bailuan before Cao Cao is taken down.

Completing both sets and altering the fates gets you set up for the Wei True Ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins with the route unlocked.
