Crafting dailies for the win! With the launch of Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) patch 1.5, welcome to crafting dailies via craftin writs. In this video and written guide, we’ll show you how to get started doing these fun rewarding dailies. Let’s get started on our ESO Crafting Writs guide.
Crafting Writs Video Guide here
Crafting Writs
Dailies were severely lacking in Elder Scrolls Online. Well ZOS heard us and answered the call with one of two new dailies in patch 1.5 This guide is to explain the purpose of the writs and to show a quick way to do them.
The purpose is easy to explain: to give players something to do daily. It’s a easy fun way to generate income on a daily basis and it gives you an incentive to have alts or alternate characters. Not to mention it’s a boost to your crafting leveling by completing these so any character can do it.
Phase One
There’s two phases to these crafting writs. First you need to be certified within each discipline. I have level 32 blacksmithing, clothing, and woodworking on all my characters for the hirelings. This is enough to bypass the introduction quest and get certified. But if you’re not, it’ll take you to an introduction crafting quest explained below.
- In any major town, you’ll see a new board with posted crafting quest. The first step is to simply grab these.
- Next you’ll need to head to your starter area, for Aldmeri Dominion that’s Auridon.
- Here’s where your first choice happens. One of the NPCs is in the Mages guild who certifies for Alchemy, Provisioning, and Enchanting. While the Fighters guild NPC does Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking. The choice is yours….
Once you’ve chosen, it’ll unlock options to get crafting certifications for all one or all three of the chosen professions. If you’re high enough level in that crafting profession (Blacksmithing 32+) you’ll have the option to just skip the quest and get the reward (WOOT!) If not continue on to step five.
- This quest will have you complete a set of basic crafting skills in order to unlock phase two.
- Harvest ore (places marker on the map)
- Smelt ore for ingots
- Create a dagger
- Deconstruct the dagger
- Donedeey!
Not to be to get certified now to phase two which unlocks even more stuff to do!
Phase Two
This phase isn’t too bad but requires more materials for sure. You’ll go back to the same board you saw earlier to grab the Writs. Once again, you can grab one or more if certified.
Now you’ll actually need to bang out a series of items. My items were:
- 2x Iron Helms
- 2x Iron Shoulders
- 5x Iron Daggers
Once that’s done, you’ll need to transport the “War Materiel” to the docks. Here you will see a chest with a quest marker which you deposit the goods. This is where you turn in the quest for a Blacksmithing (or whatever craft) box. These boxes have various rewards, like soul gems, random gear, etc. The coolest part is, there’s a chance to reward a map with a specific location in the area that has high density of deposits. This will spawn like six or so ore deposits for massive deconstruction material (hello Dreugh Wax).
And that’s pretty much it for the ESO Crafting Writs. I’m going to update this guide as I learn more about the system, but so far it’s somewhat simple and rewarding so hopefully this was helpful.
I too can never seem to remember the writ tasks, even if there’s just two line items! Just found this Addon that puts a “Post-it” note of your objectives in the crafting screen:
Khrill Crafting Post-It
what does it mean when it says “sign the delivery manifest” at the end of completing your crafting writ quest? it didn’t show on your video because i think it’s changed a little since then, but i’ve been trying to figure it out for a while and i have no idea at all.
how do you make panacea of magicka i need for a daily writs
thank you
Depends on your level just gather alchemy mats.
No, it doesn’t depend on your level. A Panacea requires the use of Cloud Mist, regardless of the crafter’s level. Anyway, here’s an easy guide you can use:
1. Sip = Natural Water
2. Dram = Pristine Water
3. Potion = Cleansed Water
4. Solution = Filtered Water
5. Elixir = Purified Water
6. Panacea = Cloud Mist
As far as the potions needed for writs, only 6 are needed, but there are many different combinations of making them. If you’re going to complete Alchemy writs on multiple characters, you’d benefit by crafting all your potions on an alchemist with 3 skill points in the Chemistry passive (giving 3 free potions for every potion crafted) and keeping the potions on each character for the writs. You don’t have to create the potions on the character turning in the writ.
The potions needed for the different writ quests are Health, Magicka, Stamina, Ravage Health, Ravage, Magicka, and Ravage Stamina.
The potion combinations are as follows (accurate as of ESOTU 2.0.1)
Ravage Stamina
[Imp Stool, Emetic Russula]
[Imp Stool. Stinkhorn]
[Luminous Russula, Stinkhorn]
[Luminous Russula, Emetic Russula]

TY for posting.
Would putting the gear you make at higher level give you any bonuses rather then just making it at lvl 1.
None at all. As you progress through writs you’ll need to make items of higher levels, but making anything higher than the minimum required level will just mean a waste of mats.
Is there any way to get a list of the glyphs we would have to make for each lvl of writ? I ha seen similar things done on other sites/forums for provisioning! I enjoy the info I get here and was just curious if y’all know what im in search of 😉
Thanks!
i have a question.. i am 50 provisioning now and when i go to the mages guild i dont recieve any kind of quest to get certified he doesnt give me any quest at all =/ anyone know what i can do to fix it? thnx
Did you check fighters guild person? Sometimes you get a choice between the two.
Also, a couple of things:
1. You won’t be offered writs until your character is level 6 (assuming you-power-leveled Provisioning). Certification is available regardless of your character’s profession level, but not to characters level 5 and below.
2. Certification is only offered in the fighters and mages guilds in your alliance’s first zone (i.e. AD – Vulkhel Guard; DC – Daggerfall, and EP – Davon’s Watch).
