FBC Firebreak is Remedy’s upcoming project set in their shared gaming universe. What can the long-term and casual fans expect?

The Remedy shared universe is ready to entertain you with their next project, FBC: Firebreak. As the name suggests, the game takes the players back to the Federal Bureau of Control, where the 2019 title Control took place. In the entire game, including the DLCs, Jesse Faden, the new Director of the FBC and the protagonist, struggled against the Hiss.
This “Hiss” is a resonance-based entity that corrupted many FBC employees and posed an interdimensional threat to Earth. Jesse is able to contain some of it, but the Hiss still remains in the Oldest House. Now, it is up to the Firebreak to deal with this trouble.
Initial Setting of FBC Firebreak

FBC: Firebreak is a first-person three-player co-op shooter. This is the first time that Remedy, a studio popular for its third-person single-player games, has decided to do something fundamentally different. The game is not a new IP. It expands on the story of Control (2019). Control’s story concluded after two expansions, namely AWE, and The Foundation.
While the AWE expansion can be started before the main story’s endgame, The Foundation chronologically doesn’t start until you have finished the game and defeated The Hiss. However, even during the events of The Foundation story expansion, we find that The Hiss remains in The Oldest House and continues to evolve.
After this, the Federal Bureau of Control decided to launch the Firebreak project. Among the personnel of the FBC, the Firebreak refers to a pathway that helps people cross into a different region of a sector. Here, the Firebreak team could be a bridge between the FBC and the Hiss, aimed at eliminating the latter. The Firebreak team will consist of up to three members who are regular employees at the FBC but pick up the weapons to eradicate The Hiss.
We noticed the Hiss as the only primary enemy in the trailer. However, if there are future expansions coming to the game, we might see less popular malicious entities like The Mold. This way, Remedy can set up the enemy and story for Control 2.
What Is the Primary Objective?

FBC Firebreak appears to be a co-op extraction shooter of sorts. It plays similarly to the Left 4 Dead series in a manner that there can be multiple levels to play through before a mission comes to a close. The players will start by choosing a job. This refers to the mission that they wish to go on.
The trailer only showed one job called Paper Chase | Executive Sector. Here, the Firebreak team must destroy the aggressive sticky notes. The number of notes left can be seen in the top left corner. It keeps going up at every level. Moreover, there is a sticky note monster in one of the levels.
After selecting a job, you can choose your crisis kit. It refers to the perks, weapons, and equipment you wish to bring with you for the mission. Next, choose a threat level that determines the difficulty of the chosen mission. Lastly, players must choose a clearance level. This will determine how many levels there will be to your mission. Each level will be separated by a containment door.
Weapons, Perks, and Equipments in FBC Firebreak

The developers know how much fans love the “weirdness” in their games. The FBC houses a plethora of absurd weapons, entities, and background lore. Even in Firebreak, the players will have access to the classic weapons that the FBC personnel have in Control like LMGs, SMGs, and Shotguns. However, they are also adding new melee weapons and special ones that spray snowballs to apply wet effects and give electric shocks to enemies.
There are also perks granting you special abilities like jumping up and down to extinguish the fire from your clothes. These perks can be stacked. Doubling a perk gives you more advantage while adding three of the same kind shares the perk effects with allies who are in proximity.
Lastly, there are equipment like turrets available in the game that can be acquired during gameplay, kind of like Call of Duty: Zombies. You can take them out of the box and build them up. However, you may have to carry them through the containment door. Moreover, players who spend more time earning the currency to buy these items will find it more difficult to extract.
