Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provides you the option to romance one of your female companions, Tifa. This guide will tell you how to do so.
Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most popular video game characters, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth finally gives fans the long-awaited option to romance the brawler.
The game gives you the option to romance one of three characters. The first would be Tifa Lockhart, the childhood friend of the protagonist, Cloud Strife. The second would be the flower peddler, Aerith Gainsborough. Last but not least, we have Yuffie Kisaragi, the World’s Greatest Materia Hunter.
To romance any one of these, you need to have more affinity with them than the other two characters mentioned above. The character’s affinity will be shown via a smiling face above their heads. The color of this smile will tell you what relationship level you are at with a certain character. The smiling face will have a ring attached to its border, which fills up over time, depending on your actions. The levels from bad to good are:
- Purple
- Yellow
- Green
- Dark Blue
- Light Blue
The character who goes on a date with you will be the one you have the highest relationship level. So be sure to make the correct decisions unless you want to end up on the date with the wrong character.
How To Raise Your Relationship Level?
There are many ways you can raise your relationship with your characters (including Tifa) in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. These include:
- Side Quests
- Specific Story beats
- Synergy Skills and Abilities
- Dialogue Choices
For advancing Tifa’s relationship level in particular, however, there are a few more options available to you. In addition to the above-mentioned methods, you can also raise your affinity with Tifa through:
- Matching Cloud’s Outfit with Tifa’s Outfit during Chapter 6 in Costa Del Sol
- Pick Tifa when prompted during Chapter 6
- Get the best possible performance in Junon’s parade
Dialogue Choices To Raise Affinity With Tifa
- Chapter 2: “This tank remind you of anything?” – Respond with “The place I made that promise to you.”
- Chapter 4: “Do you remember a guy named Emilio?” – Reply with “Only person from the village I remember is you.”
- Chapter 6: “Feels like it’s been ages since Seventh Heaven.” – Say “Lot’s happened since then.”
- Chapter 9: “What sorta thing would you go for?” – State “Gonna go with pot roast”
- Chapter 10: “Did I sound as awkward as I felt?” – Praise by saying, “You did good.“
- Chapter 11: “It was taking a toll… Then you turned up.” – Ask her, “Have I helped you get through it at all?“

Completing the following side quests deepens your relationship with Tifa.
- A Rare Card Lost
- Calling All Frogs
- Dreaming of Blue Skies
- Bodybuilders in a Bind
- My White-Haired Angel
- Sand and Circuses
- Gold Cup or Bust
Which Outfit To Select To Increase Relationship With Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
If your Cloud is wearing the Wild Surf outfit, have Tifa wear the Shining Spirit outfit to increase the relationship in this event. Otherwise, if Cloud is wearing the Ocean Chocobo outfit, select the Majestic Glamour for Tifa.
To unlock the above outfits, you need to gain their respective Companion Cards and trade them for their outfits.
If you completed all the above events correctly, you should have Tifa knock on your door in Chapter 12 for a date. Make sure to enjoy your hard-earned reward!
