In South of Midnight, Health Filaments are items found throughout the world that can restore health when collected. They provide a slight auto-regeneration of health when it’s low, refilling about one-third of the health bar. Significantly, when you collect three, they also combine to increase your total maximum health. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where and how to locate this crucial item in Chapter 4 so you can increase your health pool.
Chapter 4 Health Filament in South of Midnight
Health Filaments are an important collectible in South of Midnight. Collecting one will restore some of your health, but what you really want is to find three pieces. Then, they will combine to permanently increase your maximum amount of health. It is crucial to find these along the way, because you’ll need the deeper health pool in later chapters.
Typically, there is one health filament per chapter, with a few exceptions. You won’t find the first one until Chapter 3, with the rest of the trio found in Chapters 4 and 5.
How to Find Health Filament in South of Midnight Chapter 4
To find the Health Filament in South of Midnight Chapter 4, you’ll need to progress the story until you reach the island where the church is standing. Although the goal is to ring the bell, you should first take the time to explore around this area.
Step 1
First, after you reach the church building, head around on the right side of it. Off in the distance you’ll see a gap with a sign where a bird is perched. There will be a grapple point above the edge of a cliff.
Then, look out from the cliff edge and you should see a series of grapple points. Use your Strand Pull ability to cross the distance between them.
Step 2
Secondly, as you use the grapple points, look for the small island with a tree and small cemetery. You should see a white floof glowing down there, as well. After you land, collect the floof and look out over coffins floating in the water. You’ll see platforms you can jump across and another grapple point on the far side.
Next, after you’ve made your way across you can look past the first grapple point to see another one at the entrance to a cave. Depending on the camera angle, you’ll likely be able to see the green health filament deep inside. Again, use your Strand Pull ability to safely cross the water. The Chapter 4 health filament will be at the very back of the cave sitting just in front of some hidden graves.
How to Get the Health Filament in Chapter 4 of SoM?
To get the Health Filament in Chapter 4 of South of Midnight you need to progress until you reach the location of the church. To the right of the church building you should see a grapple point at the top of a sign point. Use the grapple points to reach the small island with graves. Then, jump across the coffins and floating wood to reach another grapple point. These grapples will lead into a cave where the health filament is.
