Genshin Impact introduces a plethora of unlockable characters that can help you in your adventure in Teyvat. Each of these characters has their own unique abilities and mechanics. They can be either the main DPS, a sub-DPS, support, or a healer. You can mix and match them to form your own preferred lineup. However, there are characters who are exceptionally good at what they do, sometimes even overshadowing other characters. Furthermore, there are also playable characters that perform well if they are in the right team composition.
Here is our Genshin Impact DPS tier list for the version 5.3 update, based on their reliability in all types of content, including free roaming around the regions of Teyvat.

Best Genshin Impact DPS Tier List (February 2025)
After several updates, Neuvillette remains one of the best DPS characters in Genshin Impact. This is due to his self-sufficiency. He does not necessarily need any other party members on the team to be effective. However, if you want to use him to his full potential, make sure to bring shield support to avoid crowd control.

SS Tier Characters
SS Tier DPS characters in Genshin Impact are the powerhouses in the game. They can clear every content and game mode and are quite flexible in their team compositions. They also have the potential to stay relevant in the meta despite multiple patch updates. Characters like Neuvillette and Hu Tao are some examples of this.
Neuvillette (SS+ Tier)

Neuvillette is at the top of the tier list for a good reason. He can play as a one-man army in a lot of in-game content, especially in free roam. The only downside when he is still at C0 is that his charged attacks can be interrupted by crowd control attacks. This is why it is best to bring one shield support like Zhongli to the team. However, he gets more powerful when you unlock his C1, increasing his resistance to interruption. This means you won’t need to rely too much on shields just to keep attacking enemies.
Arlecchino (SS Tier)

Arlecchino has one of the best DPS kits in Genshin Impact in terms of raw Pyro damage. She can even work without any supports that can trigger Vaporize or Overload elemental reactions. Her wide AoE attacks are one of the key features that overshadowed one of the longest-running top-tier Pyro DPS characters in the game, Hu Tao. Her kit might sound complicated, but it’s pretty straightforward once you try it.
Mavuika (SS Tier)

Mavuika is one of the unique cases of DPS characters in Genshin Impact. Her kit can be used on and off the field, making her very flexible and fitting into most team compositions. Additionally, her damage scaling is also very high, allowing for massive burst damage potential. Furthermore, she is quite useful in exploration as she can ride her bike and travel faster than any character in the game.
Hu Tao (SS- Tier)

Still one of the best Pyro DPS characters in Genshin Impact, but has been power-crept a bit by Arlecchino and Mavuika. Her single-target basic and charged attacks can be devastating with the right team composition. If you unlock her C1, her Elemental Infused charged attacks won’t consume stamina, allowing you to spam and deal even more damage. Her full potential is unlocked on C6, where she is guaranteed to deal critical damage for a brief period when her HP drops below 25%.
S Tier DPS Characters

Genshin Impact characters in the S Tier are still powerful but might require a bit of investment and grinding compared to the ones in the SS Tier. Despite this, they guarantee that you can clear most of the in-game content with them, and perform better if they are paired with the right support characters.
A Tier DPS Characters

These characters can be strong but require a bit more investment than those who are in a higher tier. Sometimes, they may require a specific team composition to complete difficult in-game content. Usually, if you are investing in the heroes in the A tier, you will also need to invest heavily in other characters that can support them.
B Tier DPS Characters

B Tier characters work the best in specific in-game content. However, they can underperform when used outside their expertise. This makes them harder to build as they might require multiple setups to work and need strong support units to back them up.
C Tier DPS Characters

The C Tier DPS characters are still good in their respective roles but can be replaced with other options. They are good for beginner characters and are often ignored once you get better characters in banners.
D Tier DPS Characters

The characters in the D Tier are considered the worst and have very limited capability. You usually avoid them like the plague unless you are playing for fun and want to see how far you can go with these characters. Their damage potential is often so low that some 4-star characters can easily out-DPS them.
