Learn about the best Stratagems to use when fighting against the Illuminate in Helldivers 2 to protect Super Earth.
If you are fighting Illuminate using the same Stratagems in Helldivers 2 as you did against Automatons and Terminids, then you are doing it wrong. The latest enemy faction introduced to the game is pretty difficult to tackle. This is probably because they have been fighting Super Earth and its divers since the first game. Despite their intelligence, you can take out hordes of them using Stratagem. However, not each one will work the same way on them.
For those who don’t know already, Strategems are the abilities that you can call upon the world from your Destroyer Ship to cause destruction and/or complete a pending objective effectively. Since these abilities are mostly pretty devastating, they can be helpful against all Illuminate.

Best Stratagems in Helldivers 2 Against the Illuminate
Just like any other faction, these aliens also have numerous kinds of allies up their sleeves that they can call upon for help. You would think that 1-4 Helldivers might not be able to do a lot in that situation, but that’s where Stratagems come into play. Since the energy shields can absorb large bursts of damage, it’s best to use high volumes of fire like:
- Eagle Strafing Run: Useful against hordes, stripping shields, and damaging Harvesters severely.
- Orbital Gas Strike: Hordes of smaller enemies will be confused and receive damage while also having a probability to destroy shielded ships when hit directly.
- Guard Dog Rovers: While it doesn’t directly deal with a large horde, it will watch your back against the sneaky undead.
- Eagle 500KG Bomb/Orbital Precision Strike: Only use this if you wish to annihilate a single specific area. It can be for an objective, to kill a single enemy, or a horde of them together.
- 120mm Orbital Barrage: If destroying an entire outpost is your goal, you will get better results using this one instead of the Orbital Precision Strike.
If there are Cognitive Disruptors on the map that you are playing, your Stratagem codes will be scrambled. This is where things get good, though. You see, Automaton Stratagem Jammers could stop you from calling in help. However, Illuminate Cognitive Disruptors will merely scramble the code every three seconds.
So, even under the influence of these jammers, you can still call in your special abilities. One thing to remember is that the scramble will happen every 3 seconds. So, once it happens, immediately put the codes in. This should give you enough time to put the right codes in before the next scramble takes place!
