Hero Proficiency can be confusing at first if you are new to Marvel Rivals. Here is a detailed explanation on it so you don’t feel lost.
Proficiency for a particular Hero in Marvel Rivals shows how much of that character you have mastered. It shows how experienced you are in a certain hero.
More informally, we can say that your “main” is the one that you can be proficient with. However, this Proficiency is not just a term that fans are using. It is a system in the game that lets you level up your Hero individually.
Playing matches grants you XP to help your profile reach higher levels. But Proficiency is specific to each character. To know where you stand with a character, you must:
- Go to the Heroes tab from your Home Screen.
- Now, select your desired character.
- Either watch or skip the animation that plays afterward. You can then scroll to the last tab called Proficiency.
- The first page here will show you the level the Hero is at. Selecting the Rewards window will let you see how far you have come and how much more you have to travel to unlock certain rewards.
How To Unlock New Proficiency in Marvel Rivals?
Players start off at the Agent level of Proficiency. The next levels are Knight, Captain, Centurion, and Lord in increasing order. All of these levels bring new rewards along with them. These Rewards are generally distributed among three categories: Sprays, KO Prompts, and Avatars.
A Spray is the only cosmetic reward here that can show your proficiency with a character. The rest of the two categories are personal customizations. Other players can only look at them if they are Spectating you to watching the Kill Cam after you obliterate them. If you wish to boast in lobbies, there are other types of customizations for you in Marvel Rivals.
Each Proficiency level requires you to earn, due to the lack of a better term, Rival Points (or RP). These can be earned by completing certain challenges shown on the Level page in the Proficiency tab. These challenges are generally repetitive and offer stingy amounts of RP but as long as you stick to one character, it shouldn’t be that long of a road to higher Proficiency levels.
The RP requirement to level up also increases alongside the rank itself. For example, Agent to Knight requires only 500 RP while Knight to Captain will require you to gain 1200 RP.
