Heroes of Newerth Reborn has been announced as the legendary MOBA title makes its comeback with 80 playable characters on launch.
The legendary MOBA game that had the world by storm is making a surprise comeback, much to the awe of all fans worldwide. Heroes of Newerth Reborn has been confirmed by developer Kongor Studios. Released in 2010, the original HoN had a massive fan following, and even had a bustling eSports scenario at one time.
After the Heroes of Newerth servers shut down in 2022, there was nothing but radio silence for years. The game makes its comeback in 2025 as Heroes of Newerth Reborn, and it will release with 80 characters at launch. Heroes of Newerth Reborn is All Set to Make a Grand Comeback
Heroes of Newerth is one of the original MOBAs that has been around since before Dota 2. Released on May 12, 2010, the game had a steady eSports scene and a loyal player base, till the game servers shut down on June 20, 2022. The studio behind the original Heroes of Newerth, S2 Games, also permanently became defunct.
Since its last announcement in December 2021, the Heroes of Newerth account on X (then Twitter) had remained inactive. However, this changed when the account suddenly started posting in January 2025, which prompted many players to anticipate a sequel. Heroes of Newerth Reborn is now confirmed, and it is being developed by Kongor Studios. Former S2 employees are also a part of this project, which has a new vision to compete with modern-day titles.
On their official website, Jesse Hayes, Co-Founder of Kongor Studios and Former S2 Games developer said:

The game has also teamed up with Garena in their endeavor to make Heroes of Newerth Reborn a blazing success. Jason Ng, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Garena, said:
We are excited to work with Kongor Studios to breathe new life into the franchise. This collaboration ensures that the original game’s spirit lives on while reaching a broader audience through modern improvements.
New Features and Launch Details For Heroes of Newerth Reborn
Heroes of Newerth Reborn will feature the following at launch:
- 80+ heroes to choose from and play with.
- New iGames Platform, with a new game engine that will deliver a smooth experience and higher performance metrics.
- Better audio and visual aspects than the original HoN.
- A new boss character called the Phoenix.
- New game mechanics for you to master.
- Emotes and other flairs to taunt your opponent or flex on your teammates.
- The addition of Role Queue.
