Not all heroes in Marvel Rivals were built to overpower others. Here are 5 characters that desperately need buffs!

The gaming community seems to be enjoying Marvel Rivals so far. Unfortunately, one of the biggest complaints you will hear from players is about unbalanced characters.
You will find that a certain part of the roster is overpowered and needs to be nerfed, while some characters need the developers’ attention and care to get buffed up. You might think that the latter is mostly a skill issue. While that can be the case at times, you may want to take a look at this list and let us know if you agree!
NOTE: This list is subjective and reflects the writer’s opinion. The names here are not in any particular order.
Characters That Need a Buff in Marvel Rivals
We are not calling the characters on the following list “weak.” In fact, you might come across a player who mains a particular character and is excellent with it. However, overall, we have found that these names on the roster can get overwhelmed easily when compared to others:
- Black Widow
- Namor
- Rocket Raccoon
- Scarlet Witch
- Iron Man
We also have a detailed explanation as to why these Marvel Rivals heroes need buffs.
1. Black Widow

Black Widow can be a dangerous character when playing from a distance. Her Sniper Rifle bullets don’t have a “drop” to them like Warzone players might expect. Moreover, she has incredible ranged damage. The main drawback comes from the fact that she doesn’t have many skills to use.
You will find that her Sprint and Power Jump abilities only work when you want to get to a certain area fast, mostly after respawning. Other than that, she has a Roundhouse Kick for when an enemy gets up close, which also requires cooldown. This puts her at a dangerous disadvantage.
Her batons don’t work as well against enemies, so we wish the developers would buff her so an Avenger like her is able to defend herself instead of just collecting headshots.
2. Namor

The Serpent God isn’t as godly as he might seem at first. Despite his intimidating looks, Namor doesn’t do much in a match. He has a basic ranged attack and a Support Skill that deploys auto-turrets that look like octopuses but are easily destroyed.
If you know his strengths, he could be a good character to main. However, that’s far from reality. He needs to be buffed so that we can enjoy playing as him a little bit more.
3. Rocket Raccoon

One of the fiercest-looking members of the Guardians doesn’t deal enough damage when pouring his bullets on an enemy. Rocket may be one of the most ironic characters on the roster because of how nerfed his machine gun is. Don’t get us wrong; he could be an excellent strategist. But the lack of offense puts him at great risk.
We wish the developers would make him more lore-accurate and give him an extended offense. He can keep his healer side but not with such low damage that he struggles to stay alive during most of the match.
4. Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is another ironic hero in Marvel Rivals who needs buffs. She may be a menace in the comics and in the MCU, but her character needs some serious balancing. She can have her way in a match if you know how to handle her. However, most of the time, you will be struggling a lot.
Her basic attack doesn’t require reloading or aiming, which makes it easy for her to stay locked in on a character. But unfortunately, this life-draining basic attack deals too little damage. Moreover, her ultimate attack takes too long to come into effect. There is plenty of time to stop her ultimate in the middle or just eliminate her altogether before it takes place.
Some of these restrictions are to make sure she doesn’t become too overpowered, but in our opinion, it has nerfed her unnaturally.
5. Iron Man

Some of you may not agree with this pick completely, or even partially. But hear us out. Stark has a neat ability to stay in the air for as long as he wants. However, this can become his poison. Being in the middle of the air, with usually no cover in sight, puts him on the radar and makes him an easy target. He may be able to take out one opponent but is usually helpless when ganged up on.
This is the case for many characters, but we particularly mentioned Iron Man because he is usually an easy target to spot. So, considering his gameplay, the developers should give him some sort of buff.
