Richard “Banks” is one of the earliest members of FaZe Clan’s roster. He became a part of FaZe just three years after the group’s inception in 2010. Before this, he was a member of another organization, SoaR Gaming. He had started his YouTube journey much earlier, creating a channel on YouTube in 2011. After joining FaZe his content mainly focused on Call of Duty-related content, which was a major focus of the Clan at the time.

In 2014, the Massachusetts native was serving as the COO of the FaZe Clan, while Thomas “Temperrr” held the COO position. The two decided to set up a house exclusively for FaZe members to provide a shared space to its creators to produce content more effectively. The house was set up in Plainview, New York, and became popularly known as the “FaZe House”.

In October, 2023, Banks became the CEO of FaZe Clan after the organization was acquired by GameSquare Holdings Inc., a gaming, entertainment, and media company. Banks, who is now 32 years old, took on his appointment as the leader of the organization by making major changes within their roster. In April 2024, Banks initiated massive layoffs, dropping more than 15 members from FaZe’s ranks in an effort to “wipe its slate clean.”

FaZe Banks Received Threats Of Violence From Kendrick Lamar Supporters

Banks was recently on the receiving end of threats of physical violence by members of the Cuhmunity podcast. This was just a few days after the FaZe member backed up Kick streamer Adin Ross as he received similar threats for supporting hip-hop artist Drake. For context, the Cuhmunity podcast members are staunch supporters of Kendrick Lamar, specifically in the context of the recent rap beef between Drake and Lamar.

Previously, the Cuhmunity podcast had declared that Adin Ross was “banned” from visiting Las Angeles, California. Further, they had stated that they would engage in physical violence against his security team. In response, Banks had stated that he would make a “couple of calls” on behalf of Adin Ross. Talking to Ross over the phone, Banks had said:

“Yo, I found a crazy clip of somebody saying you’re not good in LA. You need me to make a couple of phone calls? Just know, that you’re always good in LA. I’ll walk Melrose (Avenue) b**t naked with an Adin Ross tattoo on my chest. That dude actually pissed me off. You should come do a 72-hour livestream in LA. You’re 100% good.”

However, the Cuhmunity podcast members did not approve of Banks’ support for Ross and claimed that the FaZe CEO would catch a “fade” himself in Los Angeles:

“I hope you see this clip, na, ’cause I’ma f**k you up, too, n***a, on my mama… Where ever you from, f**k you, your mama, Banks. What ever, your daughter, your aunty, your grannie, n***a, come get it in blood, n***a.”
