How strong is Garou in One Punch Man? Analyzing the feats of the most entertaining antagonist in the animanga series
The One Punch Man series has introduced a plethora of antagonists. While some of them were too weak to get any screen time, there were some that stood out for their combat abilities. One such character is Garou. He is also known as the Hero Hunter in the anime and manga series. He is Silver Fang’s former student. Silver Fang taught him the Flowing Water Fist Style. Garou’s fluidity paired with his explosive power makes him one of the most feared combatants. He was strong enough to take out various S-class heroes all by himself.
In fact, his abilities in the manga shocked readers. He is the reason why anime-only fans are gearing up for the third season. Garou will receive a substantial amount of screen time in the upcoming season since he is the main focus of the Monster Association arc. In fact, he is the only character in the series who manages to give Saitama a run for his money.

This is how Garou slowly became one of the most skilled combatants. His views on heroes and their work were formed at a young age. However, his views were skewed because those cowardly children are not representations of heroes.
However, his conviction led him to defeat some of the most powerful heroes. When he was a student at the dojo, he outclassed all of his upperclassmen. Eventually, Garou realized that he had nothing left to learn. In a fit of rage, he defeated all of the dojo members and went on a hunting spree. This is when he was given the title of Hero Hunter.
Garou’s Powers in One Punch Man
One of the most obvious powers is Garou’s martial proficiency. He is exceptionally gifted, and he spent years honing his combat abilities. He has a lean frame with good musculature, allowing him to harness explosive strength in his fights. His fluidity also allows him to generate maximum force during attacks.
Garou was powerful enough to defeat Silver Fang in his monsterized state. Garou was strong enough to defeat Platinum Sperm in the blink of an eye. Platinum Sperm was strong enough to defeat Flashy Flash, who was an S-class hero. This goes to show Garou’s speed prior to partially accepting God’s powers. He was powerful enough to take on Saitama and tank his Serious Series: Serious Punch. There are very few who have been on the receiving end of the attack and lived to tell the tale.
Garou was also powerful enough to understand the flow of all energy in the cosmos. This gave him an arsenal of attacks, which led to Genos’ death. However, he taught Saitama to travel back in time after realizing all the damage that he had done.
Garou Vs Saitama in One Punch Man
Garou took on Saitama in his monsterized state. At first, the Caped Baldy wasn’t serious. He humored Garou and countered his attack with little to no difficulty. However, things changed when he partially accepted God’s powers. This is when we saw Cosmic Fear Mode Garou. He infused nuclear fission and fusion in his attacks against Saitama.
Furthermore, he launched them into Jupiter and proceeded to use portals in the fight. He was able to teleport with relative ease. But the Caped Baldy was able to counter this as well. Naturally, Garou was frustrated, and he attempted to create a portal that would send his opponent into the sun. Saitama quite literally farted and used that to propel himself towards the Earth. He defeated Garou subsequently. The former Hero Hunter realized his mistakes, and he taught the Caped Baldy his secret technique: Time Travel. This led to Saitama going back in time and defeating Garou before the nuclear radiation killed the heroes present there.
Garou’s Notable Feats in One Punch Man
Garou’s powers drastically increased when he partially accepted God’s powers. He was able to understand the flow of all energy in the universe. This meant that he could recreate nuclear fission and fusion in his attacks. This resulted in the deaths of many heroes. Garou also managed to create portals during a fight. He was able to teleport and fight at blistering speeds. He was far superior to every antagonist that was introduced in the series.
Since Garou was able to understand the flow of all energy, he managed to travel back in time. Being able to time travel is one of the most impressive abilities revealed in the show. He was so strong that he killed Genos and other heroes with nuclear radiation. He also imitated Saitama’s Serious Punch, countering the Caped Baldy’s attack. Such were his powers in the manga series.
