Learn how to solve Oblivion Remastered’s confounding persuasion minigame to increase Disposition, unlock quests, and level up Speechcraft.

The persuasion minigame in Oblivion Remastered is generally considered weird, unintuitive, and nonsensical. However, mastering the minigame can increase your Disposition with nearly every NPC in Oblivion, level up Speechcraft, and provide other perks. Let’s delve into this little puzzle game and break it down.
How to Beat the Persuasion Minigame in Oblivion Remastered
The persuasion minigame can be accessed in the bottom left corner while talking to any character. Its icon is a silhouette with arrows pointed toward it. Once opened, your Disposition with the character is written at the center of the wheel. A higher Disposition with an NPC can:
- Unlock new quests.
- Reveal information for existing quests.
- Unlock houses.
While bribing works to increase disposition, the minigame can accomplish it for free.
Persuasion Minigame Guide
Click on the “Start” option at the top of the circle to begin the minigame. As the mingame begins, you will be presented with four options on a circular interface: Admire, Boast, Joke, and Coerce. Each option can only be clicked once, and after every option has been clicked, the minigame round is completed. The disposition will slowly decrease during the minigame, penalizing slow decision-making. Here is a step-by-step guide to win the persuasion minigame in Oblivion Remastered:
- Approach a character you want to increase disposition with and start the persuasion minigame.
- Hover over Admire, Boast, Joke, and Coerce options one at a time, noting the change in the character’s facial expressions.
- The expressions will indicate four responses: Love, Like, Dislike, or Hate. Raised eyebrows are positive, frowns are negative.
- Once you have identified which options are positive and which are negative, ignore the words Admire, Boast, Joke, and Coerce, and remember them as Love, Like, Dislike, or Hate based on their facial expressions.
- Each option will have between one and four bars or pie slices on it, which signify the magnitude of each option.
- You want to choose the positive response options with the most bars and the negative response options when they have the least number of bars.
- Choose either a Love or Like option with a high number of bars, or a Dislike or Hate option with a low number of bars.
- Once you pick an option, the bars will rotate clockwise.
- Knowing this, you can predict which option will have a larger or smaller number of bars in the next turn.
- If you choose positive options with a higher magnitude than the negative ones, the round will end with a net gain in disposition.
- Sometimes, the arrangement of bars makes it almost impossible to have a net gain, but you can try again by starting another round.
- Start another round if required, and this time, the Love and Hate options will be marked in Green and Red, respectively.
How Speechcraft Works in the Persuasion Minigame

Completing a round of the minigame will grant you points for the Speechcraft skill. Your Speechcraft level can provide advantages during the minigame and other options to increase disposition:
- Novice: Unlocks the ability to use bribes to raise an NPC’s disposition.
- Apprentice: Allows you to rotate the bars once during a round without picking an option.
- Journeyman: Slows persuasion decay during the minigame by 50%.
- Expert: Reduces the disposition penalty from using an NPC’s Hate option is from -150% to -100%.
- Master: Lowers bribe amounts by 50%.
