Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has an abundance of difficult fights, naturally so, as most of the enemies you fight are capable of destroying planets by just pointing a finger. Great Ape Vegeta, however, takes this difficulty to another level. The Saiyan Prince is a hurdle on his own but becomes near insurmountable after transforming into the Great Ape. It also doesn’t help that you play as early Goku and can’t really dish out a one-sided stomping. However, despite the difficulty, the boss can be beaten.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to beat Great Ape Vegeta in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

How to Beat Great Ape Vegeta

The first thing that the Great Ape will do is fire off a Galick Gun right away to kick off the fight. Brace yourself for this and block right off the bat. The Galick Gun deals high damage and can put you at a disadvantage if you are hit right at the start.

Once you’ve blocked the beam and have settled into the fight, the thing that will immediately grab your attention is the sheer size of the Great Ape. This can make approaching the boss intimidating, but this is by design to throw you off. The boss has blindspots on its sides where you can strafe around and hover. You will find plenty of opportunities to punish the boss as you strafe on the sides. Rush in towards the boss right after the beam and land a few chain attacks. The boss does not block and often leaves itself open to combo chains. Grab these openings and punish the Great Ape.

Ki is Key in the Fight

Don’t be too eager with your combos, and make sure to fall back and hover around its sides and evade attacks to build up Ki. Alternatively, you can also maintain distance and charge Ki the traditional way, but be wary of incoming beams should you choose to do so.

Once you have fully charged your Ki bar, you can use the Solar Flare. The Solar Flare disorients the Great Ape, leaving him completely vulnerable to a powerful Kamehameha. Dodge the beams, charge up Ki, and use the Solar Flare and Kamehameha. Rinse and repeat, and you will beat Great Ape Vegeta with no difficulty.
