Jenova Emergent in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a really tricky boss to fight. But in this guide, we will tell you how to take it down.

The Jenova Emergent is a boss we encounter when our heroes go on a voyage to Costa del Sol to find Sephiroth in the mission named “Blood in The Water.” The boss first appears as Sephiroth but then changes its appearance into a grotesque monster. So right from the start the game gives us an indication that it will be a tricky fight.
At this point in the mission, the only party members who are available for this battle are Cloud, Barret, and Tifa, so we must utilize their abilities efficiently. We will go through how you can defeat the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Jenova Emergent in this guide, so you don’t have anything to worry about.
Jenova Emergent’s Stats

Here is a list of Jenova Emergent’s HP across all difficulties:
Stat | Easy | Normal | Hard |
HP | 30793 | 43990 | 180966 |
The Jenova Emergent does not possess any weaknesses we can exploit; however, there is a way to defeat it. The only way is to keep putting pressure on its different body parts until it gets staggered and we can do some real damage. We will have to rely on our reflexes to dodge its attacks and our abilities to turn the tide of the battle in our favor. We will explore all of this alongside the entire boss fight below.
How To Defeat Jenova Emergent: Phase 1

At the beginning of the fight, the boss will be stuck in the middle of the arena. If you cast Assess, then you will see that it does not have any weaknesses, just like we discussed. However, you will also notice that dealing damage to the boss will pressure it. You can attack its body parts, and as they get destroyed, the stagger meter will increase.
This is the most important information you will have against the boss, so you must strategize with that in mind. So let’s start there. Keep damaging its body parts, primarily the head and the arms on its shoulders, to put pressure on it. You will get to target the head right from the beginning of the fight, but the arms will appear shortly after.
When you destroy any part of the boss’s body, the stagger meter will increase significantly and will stop it from using some of its abilities. Once staggered, do everything you can to damage it, and use your limit breakers and synergy abilities as well. Cloud will be your primary damage dealer; use him to do whatever damage is possible and target the head.
Then comes Tifa; she might not get good hits on the boss, but her constant attacks will be an asset, and Barret will be your ATB battery. His quick ATB charges will be essential to recover the situation if any of the other party members get damaged. Also, don’t forget to use his gun frequently to attack the boss from a distance.
Now let’s take a look at some of Jenova Emergent’s attacks. The most common attack it will be using is the Perstinential Reckoning. It will look like a purple cloud that does significant damage and will go towards the edges of the arena. If you see a purple ray of light coming out of the boss, then that is another attack you should look out for. That attack is called Vengeance, and you cannot block it, so take a few steps back and dodge it.
When you have staggered the boss and damaged it enough by destroying the body parts, the second phase of the battle will begin when Jenova Emergent reaches half of its health.
Phase 2

After a cutscene, phase 2 will begin. This time Jenova Emergent will be able to move freely throughout the arena, and it will have some new moves. The first of the new moves is Propagate. It is a simple spell, and it does not do any damage to Cloud and the party. The Propagate spell will simply regenerate the head and the shoulders of the Jenova Emergent, making it easier for you to put pressure on and build the Stagger Meter.
The next new move will be Carnage. The boss will move its tentacles around all over the arena. This attack can easily hit you, so stay alert. You cannot block or dodge it, so you must run away from it and wait until the attack ends. But don’t forget the attacks from the previous round, because the Jenova Emergent will use old attacks like Vengeance in this phase. Identify them and dodge them as we discussed in the previous section of the guide. If you keep staggering and damaging the boss, there is not going to be a third phase.
Nothing significant happens in the third phase of the fight; the boss only gets one additional attack, which is Torment, which binds one member from your party. If you reach phase 3 and the Jenova Emergent uses Torment, then do not try to block it; just dodge and get out of its way. Keep repeating the process, put pressure on the body parts, destroy them, and then damage the staggered boss. And you will defeat the Jenova Emergent easily.
