Walls are integral for the protection of your cities in Civilization 7. Without walls, you are as good as a sitting duck before hostile forces and Independent Powers. Walls add HP to the District and Combat Strength to the Units it encloses.
Let’s discuss how to build walls in Civilization 7.
Square One: Research Masonry

Your journey in wall building starts from learning Masonry, i.e., stonework. Access the Technology tab on the top-left corner of your screen and then select the Tech Tree. You will find Masonry at the third tier.

Building Walls

Select the walls in the production menu, then choose a location to build them to add to your construction queue. The clock icon will show how many turns it will take to complete the walls. If you prefer not to wait, you can also acquire new walls from the ‘purchase’ menu in your City Center, though this will require some gold.
The first walls you place must be around the City Center. Only then can you add walls to the adjacent district tiles. You cannot build walls on tiles that are not next to a Fortified District.
Repairing Walls in Civilization 7
Walls that are damaged will gradually be repaired over time if they aren’t under attack and have no enemy units nearby. You don’t need to replace them unless they are completely destroyed. However, when you advance to the next Age, the walls’ defensive value will be halved, and upon reaching a further Age, it will be completely lost.
For example, when you progress from the Antiquity to the Exploration age—your existing walls will lose 50% HP. If you further progress to the Modern Age, you must erect new walls altogether.
