Various interactions with the Pokémon-like Pals are the core aspect of Pocket Pair’s survival crafting game, Palworld. You can hunt these Pals or capture them to keep them as pets. Captured Pals are used for various purposes, such as riding, assigning tasks around your base, fighting alongside you in combat, or even being butchered. Yes, you heard that right, Palworld allows you to perform the gruesome act of butchering your cherished Pals.
This feature is especially useful if you have caught too many Pals. It clears your Paldeck while rewarding resources. However, you need a specific tool called the “Meat Cleaver” to perform the butcher Pals action. This guide helps you learn how to get a Meat Cleaver in Palworld and how to use it to butcher Pals in the survival crafting title.

How To Obtain a Meat Cleaver in Palworld
Obtaining the Meat Cleaver is the same as most other tools in Palworld. You can craft the melee weapon via the workbench. However, you need to reach level 12 to unlock the blueprint of the item in the Technology section. Upon reaching the required level, unlock the Meat Cleaver blueprint with 2 technology points. Now you can craft a Meat Cleaver by interacting with a workbench with the following resources:
- 5 Ingot
- 20 Wood
- 5 Stone
Upon successfully crafting a Meat Cleaver, you are now ready to slay your Pal.
How To Use Meat Cleaver To Butcher Pal in Palworld
After crafting the Meat Cleaver, equip the item from your inventory. This replaces the “Pet” Pal action with the “Butcher” Pal action in the Pal Command menu. Here is how to use the Meat Cleaver to butcher a Pal:
- Assign the Pal you want to butcher to your Party.
- Summon the Pal to your base.
- Once crafted, equip the Meat Cleaver.
- Bring up the Pal Command Wheel by clicking the respective button.
- You will find the option “Butcher [Your Pal Name]” at the top of the wheel. For instance, if you are going to butcher Cremis, the option pops up as “Butcher Cremis.”
- Hit the option to witness your character swinging the Meat Cleaver and slaying your Pal.
The butchering action will be blurred automatically. However, the butchered Pal will die and be removed permanently, dropping an item for the players.
