Areagne, the Forgotten Witch in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) is a tricky mini-boss. Here’s how to lay waste to her without much inconvenience.
Areagne, the Forgotten Witch, is a secret boss in Path of Exile 2 that can’t be encountered by those who don’t explore the game much. You may have to travel an extra mile to get to her and reap the satisfaction of achieving a victory.
You can run into her in The Grelwood. This encounter can take place as early as Act 1. She has a hut in the middle of nowhere that you can stumble upon while exploring the region of Grelwood. Once you step inside, the witch will vanish almost immediately. Loot whatever is inside and prepare yourself for what’s about to come.
Areagne’s Attacks in PoE2
Once she vanishes and you loot whatever you find interesting inside the hut, Areagne will be waiting for you outside! Stay prepared for an ambush as soon as you step out of the hut. She will waste no time attacking you. She appears on the screen and attacks you simultaneously, all of a sudden.
She only has a few attacks. First, if you get too close to her, the only melee attack she has is slapping her enemies. This usually looks like a backhand slap. It doesn’t deal a lot of damage, but she also has elemental attacks that you need to be careful with.
For example, you will find that Areagne has an Icy Breath attack. This can inflict Chill on you. She can also summon Icy Zones beneath the players, which deal the same elemental damage.
Lastly, if you stand near her and deal enough damage, she might vanish and reappear nearby, only to spam you with the Icy Breath again.
Putting an End to Areagne the Forgotten Witch
There’s no easy way to defeat Areagne in Path of Exile 2. Despite being an Act 1 boss, she can be a nuisance to handle on your own. It’s not impossible, though. The best approach we found in this regard was sticking true to your class.
Fortunately for us, the evil witch doesn’t have a tanky health bar. This is why we consider her to be a “mini-boss” instead. So, keep your gameplay aggressive instead of tactical because chances are, you will get hit either way when trying to deal damage.
When you make quick work of her, there is less chance for you to get injured or die during the encounter. Remember, most of the time, offense is the best defense in PoE2.
Once you are done killing Areagne, she will drop an Uncut Support Gem and an Uncut Skill Gem that you can use later.
