Before you fight the Soul of Baramos in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you have to face the boss in his lair. Baramos is one of the most fearsome enemies in the game and does not go down easily. He has a variety of attacks that deal heavy damage, along with a defense that can be tricky to penetrate.

However, he is not invincible. Players can, and must, enter Baramos’ lair to put an end to him. He is situated in the south from the city of Isis. Once you have gained access to the phoenix Ramia, you are free to disturb Baramos however you like.

He is resting at the very end of his lair, and the dungeon itself is not easy to go through. So, by the time you reach Baramos, there is a chance that you have used most of your healing potions. This is why we put great emphasis on party building and strategizing the attacks against the big monster.

Your party setup mainly has to resonate with your playstyle. However, since Baramos is not an easy enemy to take down, you must keep him in check by setting up an effective party. Try not to face him until you have cleared out some dungeons without much difficulty. This means that you are now ready for him.

However, we recommend that your party be Level 35 for this. Following are some tips that will help you prepare your warriors:

  • Hero with Paragon personality trait. This will allow the character to emphasize Physical attack damage during the fight.
  • Combine the Tough Cookie trait with the Monster Wrangler on your party. This Job will now deal high Physical attack while having increased Resilience.
  • Use your Mage-turned-Sage Job to equip it with the Slippery Devil personality trait. This allows for a significant rise in MP and a good Agility stat.
  • Priest-turned-Warrior can have the Meathead personality to gain an increase in strength while also receiving access to buffing and debuffing, which will come in handy.

Baramos’ Attacks in Dragon Quest 3 Remake

Let us remind you to not take this boss fight lightly. Baramos is one of the most difficult bosses, and his attacks are a big reason why he is one of the most feared opponents in the game.

He deals a variety of attacks that deal massive damage while also occasionally hitting twice in one turn. So, it becomes essential to take note of the attacks he has:

  • Physical Attack: Physical Attack | Single Target
  • Kaboom: Explosive-Magic Attack | Party
  • Inferno: Fire Breath Attack | Party
  • Dazzle: Debuff | Reduces Accuracy | Party
  • Kafrizz: Fire-Magic Attack | Single target
  • Spooky Aura: Debuff | Reduces Magical Resistance | Single Target
  • Blasto: Removes a single party member from the battle permanently
  • Fuddle: Debuff | Confusion | Single Target

The Final Strategy

Putting an end to somebody like Baramos takes a lot of strategy. Now that we know the recommended party setup and his attacks, here’s what you need to know in regards to the fight.

The Priest-turned-Warrior will tank most of the damage while also buffing the party and debuffing Baramos. This member is playing an important role by providing support from the side. Your enemy can be Sapped to reduce his defense, and Fizzle can be used to block magic attacks. While Sap lasts for a few turns, Fizzle can last the entire battle.

As for the Mage-turned-Sage, you can use the Wild Side ability on either the Hero or the Monster Wrangler to deal extra damage after their attack. Since both the Hero and the Wrangler will hold aggro in the fight, you should also know that Gust Slash causes Wind damage which Baramos is weak against.

Also remember that the dungeon where the boss resides is home to some unique gear that can help you defeat him. Try to head into the battle with some Fire Resistance.

Moreover, the Monster Pile-On ability for the Monster Wrangler will help you rescue and use as many monsters as possible. This is important because this Job will hold aggro in the fight.

All that’s left to say is that if you happen to die in this fight, it’s a natural part of the process.
