Chetza is a difficult boss in Path of Exile 2 (PoE2). The title, The Feathered Plague, is suitable for this abomination of a bird because of its looks and abilities.

It will likely be your fourth boss fight as a part of The Trials of Chaos. The Trialmaster will give you the challenge of defeating Chetza but it wouldn’t be an easy task to take it down. The Feathered Plague only deals Physical damage but can debuff you with Maim, Bleeding, and Tainted Viscera using certain attacks.

Before we teach you about the tactics we can use to defeat this big bird, let’s go over the attacks it can throw at you. If you are familiar with Chetza’s skill set, you can skip to the later part of this article.

There are many attacks at Chetza’s disposal. However, it doesn’t ambush you when you reach it. It is just sitting at one spot, waiting for interference from the player(s). Once you get close enough, however, the health bar appears and the fight begins.

If you are within its melee range, it will poke its beak at you. It doesn’t do much damage, though, and doesn’t have a ‘combination’ of attacks.

Those who stand too far at the risk of getting hit by the Flesh Bombs it spits out. These have an AoE damage. It spits them out in two ways, both will deal similarly decent damage to the receiver. One is a volley of bombs and the other is a straight line of explosives.

One attack that you need to look out for is when Chetza puts its beak in the ground. Soon after, spikes come out of the ground in a spiral pattern. Those who get hit by them, receive Maim debuff, which slows you down.

This is when Chetza might trigger the next attack where dead birds rain from the sky. Not to forget that it can also spit out a Plagueling. The weird-looking minion dog will chase you down and hit melee attacks until it’s killed. It also has decent HP.

As soon as you enter the arena, start attacking Chetza right away. Don’t wait for the health bar to show up. This will especially work in your favor if you play using a Sorceress because the spell you cast will last long enough to start dealing damage as soon as the HP appears on top.

Avoid getting too close to the giant bird to avoid the beak poke altogether. However, if you must, try attacking it from the sides or the back. It’s too big to turn around quickly, which gives you the perfect advantage.
The projectiles that it throws have a certain delay. You can easily dodge out of the way if you pay close attention to the shadows forming on the ground or the movement of the throws.

As for the spikes rooting up, just run as far as you can when Chetza lifts its beak to smash on the ground if you can’t observe the pattern on the ground. Short spikes will appear before launching out all the way. There will be enough gaps between the spike lines; rearrange your position accordingly.
You can’t do much to avoid the flock of birds raining down, keep running around to avoid taking any damage, the birds are likely to fall in places where you have previously stood. Since you avoided the spikes, Maim won’t apply to slow you down, anyway.

Lastly, the Plagueling that Chetza the Feathered Plague spits out will chase you around. If you are quick enough and have ranged attacks, you can kite it around and keep your focus on Chetza instead. However, if the Plagueling keeps catching up to you and is dealing decent damage, you may want to take it out first. It has a good amount of HP, so we still don’t advise you to stay still, unless you are confident in your ‘tanky build’.

At last, if you defeat Chetza before the Plagueling, the latter will still need to be defeated.
