Path of Exile 2 features a multitude of boss fights, all of which put your skills, knowledge, and mechanics to the test. Some of these bosses, however, are optional and can be missed if you aren’t paying attention. The Brambleghast is one such optional boss found in Act 1 of the game. The boss is a giant monster with tree-like tentacles that hit hard and have a wide range.

The Brambleghast can be a roadblock for most players if they’re not prepared, so if you happen to be one of them, we’ve got you covered. In this Path of Exile 2 (POE2) boss guide, we shall go over the Brambleghast boss and how to defeat him.

Where To Find the Brambleghast

The Brambleghast is found during Act 1 of Path of Exile 2 in Grelwood. You reach his location as part of the “Secrets in the Dark” quest in the game. Head to the center of the Grelwood region where you find the waypoint.

Now, head east past the fungal zombies and the werewolves. These enemies will ambush you in large numbers, so be prepared to fight them. Keep heading east till you reach a checkpoint. Go past the checkpoint to find the Brambleghast boss.

Attacks To Watch Out For

The Brambleghast has a variety of moves that you have to watch out for. The boss is slow, but his slow movements are balanced by hard-hitting attacks. Below, we’ve listed some of the moves you need to be on the lookout for.

  • Underground Vines: If you’re fighting at a distance, the boss slams the ground and sends vines from underneath to sprout and attack you. These vines spawn right under your feet, so stay on the move to evade them.
  • Purple Vine Blast: The Brambleghast slams the ground to spawn two vines with glowing purple heads. These vines spawn adjacent to each other and then smash the purple heads against each other to create an explosion. The spawning animation provides a small window of opportunity to evade the attack.
  • Enhanced Underground Vines: The boss once again spawns vines, but this time they stay in place and strike you. He will spawn multiple vines at once, all of which have a wide AOE. He spawns the vines on your last known location, so run to the other end of the arena to avoid them.

How To Beat the Boss

The Brambleghast’s Achilles’ heel is his slow movement speed. The boss moves excruciatingly slowly and can be easily outmaneuvered by simply circling around him. You can then use ranged weapons while doing so to chip away at his HP.

If you’re playing a melee build, you can run up to him when he summons his vines to exploit the opening and deal large chunks of damage. The boss is fairly easy as long as you avoid being cornered by his vine attacks. Stay on your toes and you should be good to go.
