The half-bird, half-human Homo Fulquilo is an early game boss found in the Nord Mines in Metaphor ReFantazio.
Metaphor ReFantazio is the spiritual successor to Persona, and one look at the game’s combat is plenty to confirm the same. The game’s combat system shines best when pushed to its limits in the game’s many boss battles, the earliest of which is the Homo Fulquilo in the Nord Mines. This half-bird, half-human monstrosity, can be quite the hurdle if you aren’t well prepared.
This guide goes over the Homo Fulquilo boss in Metaphor ReFantazio, its ideal preparations, and the strategy you should use to win.
Homo Fulquilo Pre-Battle Prep
The Homo Fulquilo is fought early on in the game, so our arsenal is quite limited at this stage. Buy armor and weapons before you head to the boss from the merchant in the cave. The Heirloom Greatsword for the Warrior or the Aracia Rod for the mage are ideal picks this early in the game. Use Seeker for Protagonist, Warrior for Strohl, and Mage for Grius. Mix and match these permutations as they suit your needs. Level up your Mage to Level 2 to unlock the Blizz skill. This skill will come in handy owing to this boss’ weakness to ice.
Homo Fulquilo Boss Tips
The Homo Fulquilo has a variety of moves you need to keep tabs on. The text at the top usually clues you in on what comes next, so read it regularly. For instance, the boss’ Hyper attack begins by concentrating and targeting the front row. Move your team to the back to avoid the attack entirely.
The next attack you have to be wary of is the Bonfire of the Vanities. The boss uses this right after Hyper so you can avoid this attack if you had moved your team to the back earlier. Homoe Fulquilo also uses standard attacks which can be boosted by Vitalja. The boss follows Vitalja with Gabot, a wide attack that targets all members of the party. So, use block as soon as you see Vitalja brace for the upcoming Gabot strike. If you’ve selected the Warrior class, you need not block as you are resistant to fire attacks.
To take advantage Homo Fulquilo’s weakness to ice, use Level 2 Mage’s Blizz attack to chip away the boss HP and clinch victory. Carry healing items in case you fail to dodge the attacks.
