Everything you need to know about the final boss of Endless Towers in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Painted Love, and how to easily defeat it.

The Endless Towers is easily one of the toughest optional dungeons in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, only second to Renoir’s Drafts. It’s a fairly straightforward dungeon where you have to complete multiple waves of enemy encounters, each increasing in difficulty as you progress. The Endless Towers features a total of 11 stages, with each stage featuring 3 tiers. Although the dungeon opens up fairly early in Act 3 (endgame), it’s meant to be tackled after you’ve completed the main story. This is simply because the Endless Towers’ final boss is essentially the same as the main story’s ending, albeit with a larger health bar and an additional companion.
The final boss of the Endless Towers, the Painted Love, is easily among the toughest encounters in Expedition 33, right alongside Clea and Simon. While the boss is quite difficult, there are ways to defeat it easily. Here’s everything you need to know about the Painted Love in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and how to easily defeat it.

How To Unlock the Painted Love Boss Fight in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

The Painted Love is the final boss of the Endless Towers, coming at Stage 11-3. Although it’s not a new enemy type, the Painted Love sees you battle two of the toughest main story bosses, at the same time – Renoir (Curator form) and the Paintress. The movesets of both bosses are identical to their second phases, barring a few area-of-effect (AOE) attacks. However, unlike in the main story, in the Endless Towers, both these bosses can easily one-shot you if you’re not careful. The bosses also have significantly more HP than their main story counterparts, which makes it a little difficult to whittle down their health bar with a few attacks.
Lastly, the Painted Love is highly resistant to almost all elemental affinities, especially Light. However, you can still dish out damage to these bosses via Burn or Dark, albeit for very little passive damage. The best option against the Painted Love is physical damage. Thankfully, by the time you reach the Painted Love, you will have access to some incredibly powerful skills and a fully decked-out build. This won’t make the boss fight any easier. However, it will increase your survival chances and efficiency.
Tips To Easily Defeat the Painted Love

Here are some tips that should help you easily defeat the Painted Love in Clair Obscur Expedition 33:
- While the Painted Love features two bosses, both of them share a common health bar. Furthermore, regardless of which boss you attack, the shared health bar always takes damage. You can essentially target either Renoir or the Paintress, and defeat them to conclude the entire boss fight.
- We recommend locking onto Renoir, as his moveset is much easier to parry and punish. Furthermore, he also leaves himself open to Grandient Counters more often, which makes it easy to deal damage to him.
- The attacks that you need to look out for are Renoir’s 6-hit swipe attack, the charged Chroma beam attack, and the AOE attacks that he performs after every other combo. All these attacks can be parried or dodged. However, we recommend using parries against Renoir as it’s easier to read his attacks, which also allows you to counterattack.
- In terms of party setup, you want to use Verso, Maelle, and Sciel. Use Verso and Sciel as secondary characters who provide Maelle with buffs (Powerful and Shell). As for Maelle, you can use her to deal damage to the bosses. Her Phantom Stars, as well as Stendhal skill, are incredibly useful against this boss fight.
- Lastly, make sure to carry some Shell and Recovery Luminas to help boost your survivability.
Does Maelle’s One-Shot Build Work Against the Painted Love?
Yes, Maelle’s one-shot build works wonders against the Painted Love. With the right set of Luminas and skills, you can technically defeat the boss before it can even get a turn. You can learn more about Maelle’s one-shot build in our dedicated guide. Furthermore, you can also use Verso’s one-shot build to annihilate the Painted Love. However, for your first attempt at the boss, we recommend not using the one-shot builds. That way, you will get to see the entire moveset of the boss and also learn the timing of parries and Gradient Counters.
