Metaphor ReFantazio is presenting RPG fans with a challenge with its boss fights and a hybrid combat system. The game utilizes both real-time and turn-based mechanics to bring you the best possible experience. Big bosses in particular, like Ziocropos, force you to adapt to the game’s turn-based combat.
This is not the part where the players face the biggest challenge. The boss alone can make you rethink your decision to battle him. Unfortunately, you can’t avoid this fight. Especially if you are looking to complete the Proof of Power quest.
If you think you have an advantage of number over him, then you are wrong because the massive Cyclops summons a clone of himself to keep things even. Plus, the attacks are powerful enough to make you strategize, which is exactly why we are here.
Let’s learn about his basic patterns first and what you need to do to counter them.
Notice and Counter Ziocropos
The first phase of this boss fight is not much to worry about because his natural instinct is to summon a copy of himself. This will give you enough time to prepare yourself for what’s about to come. Take this moment to inflict as much damage as you can on the one-eyed beast. But hold on. Your duty doesn’t end here.
Ziocropos will also engage in some AoE attacks, which you won’t be able to avoid. So, having a healer is a must in this scenario to keep up with the boss’s high Damage Power. If not, you might see yourself preparing for a rematch very soon!
Don’t forget to use Crowd Control, if you have any, to keep the giant humanoid busy while the other party members keep on dealing the damage needed to wear him down and ultimately defeat him.
Fill Up That Inventory Before Your Meeting With Ziocropos
Apart from the main healer that you should take along with you, make sure to stock up on secondary healing options. This is just in case of an emergency to make sure that you don’t start the entire fight again.
Also, try to gather items that can inflict AoE Wind damage. This is another secondary reliability because, for the most part, you will be relying on your party to deal the most damage to Ziocropos.
Try Facing Ziocropos With These Archetypes in Your Party
Most probably you already have a party that you favor. However, not every setup can be effective for all bosses. This is why it’s important to switch things up when you need to. When facing the giant Cyclops for the first time, try going in with the following Archetypes to increase your chances of winning:
Summoner
This archetype will hold the most aggro during the battle and deal Wind damage. Summoning skills like the Eagle King will deal ample damage to the boss but won’t be enough to end it all.
Berserker
As the name suggests, you would want to take the Berserker with you when facing Ziocropos. However, this archetype will deal with secondary DPS. Our friend is not here to replace the Summoner but rather to help him achieve the goal better.
Seeker
This one can either contribute to the damage or offer support whenever needed. Don’t forget to use the Gale ability when facing the enemy to get the most out of his presence. The DPS may not be up to the mark, but it will surely add up with other attacks to become a bigger number.
Masked Dancer
The masking ability of these deceiving heroes is helpful in parties. But this time around, charge into the battle with a healer mask on. The dancer will act as your healer in the entire fight. As mentioned earlier, it’s essential to have a healer to avoid getting obliterated at the hands of the boss.
