Learn more about what you and your party can do to take down Zoma and his Minions in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
In Dragon Quest 3 Remake, the journey to defeat Zoma and his minions marks the end of your epic adventure. In the final battle, you not only overcome a powerful adversary but also fight a gauntlet of powerful minions. These minions are designed to weaken and test you before the ultimate showdown with Zoma himself. These battles will test your party’s limitations and demand well-coordinated teamwork to overcome them. Each minion will present a unique challenge in the gauntlet.
In this article, we will break down how you can take on and defeat Zoma and his Minions in the final battle in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
Defeating Zoma and Minions in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Before you take on Zoma, it is important for you to be at the appropriate level to battle him and his minions. You will need your party to be at high levels, ideally between levels 40-43. Make sure that none of your party members are below level 40. You can farm experience from the enemies at Zoma’s Citadel to level up your party members.
Given below is a recommended party setup for the Zoma boss fight:
- Hero with a Paragon Personality: Provides immense physical strength.
- Monster Wrangler with an Everyman Personality: Offers balanced stats and strong attacks with recruited monsters.
- Mage-turned-Sage with a Slippery Devil Personality: Ensures a large MP pool for continuous spellcasting.
- Priest-turned-Warrior with a Tough Cookie Personality: Provides buffing, debuffing, and resilience.
In this setup, the Hero and Monster Wrangler are your main damage dealers. Meanwhile, the Sage and Warrior focus on healing and buffs. If your party members deviate from these roles, it can lead to a quick defeat, especially against Zoma. A crucial piece of gear to remember is the Duplic Hat for the Sage. This hat ensures that each spell is cast twice, with the second cast being free of charge.
Before facing Zoma, you will have to defeat his powerful minions: King Hydra, Soul of Baramos, and Bones of Baramos. Given below is a breakdown on how to handle each of these encounters:
How To Beat King Hydra
King Hydra is the first of Zoma’s minions. This boss has a lot of HP, healing abilities, and double attacks. King Hydra’s primary attacks are a physical strike and Inferno, a Fire-element breath attack. However, the main thing you need to look out for is his Sweet Breath attack. This attack can put your party to sleep.
To counter this, you can equip the Sunstone on your Warrior so you can tank hits and remove Sleep. The Warrior can support the party with Insulatle and Snooze. Meanwhile, the Sage should focus on healing with Multiheal and Kabuff for protection. You can buff your Hero and Monster Wrangler with Oomph. However, make sure to prioritize the latter. As King Hydra’s HP drops, he will cast a magic-disabling fog, so make sure to maintain your buff before the fog appears.
How To Beat Soul of Baramos
Baramos faces you once again in his soul form, similar to your previous encounters. The boss uses strong moves like Inferno if Fizzle is cast on him. This allows you to focus on Insulatle and Magic Barrier for protection. The Warrior and Sage continue their roles in healing and buffing. Meanwhile, the Hero and Monster Wrangler go on the offensive and attack the boss. You can also exploit his weakness to Lightning damage by using abilities like Lightning Slash and Oomph. Baramos frequently casts Blasto, so be prepared for it. While the boss has a ton of HP, you can easily emerge victorious if you stick to your strategy.
How To Beat Bones of Baramos
Now, you face the Bones of Baramos, the easiest of Zoma’s three minions. The boss employs straightforward attacks, using regular physical attacks. This includes Attack Attacker to lower your strength and an All-Out Attack that lowers the boss’s defense. You can continue using the Lightning Slash ability and casting Oomph as soon as you can. Meanwhile, the Monster Wrangler should use the Wild Side and Monster Pile-On abilities to deal a lot of damage.
The Sage and Warrior, on the other hand, should heal and use Oomph. Physical attacks from the Warrior can help speed up the encounter, which should be over quickly despite the boss’s ability to heal.
How To Beat Zoma
Now, for the grand finale, you go up against Zoma, the toughest challenge in the game. In his initial phase, Zoma will be shielded by a dark blue aura. The boss will heal each turn and deal heavy damage. You can use the Sphere of Light to remove this aura, tweaking him significantly in the process. The boss primarily utilises Ice-element attacks like Freezing Blizzard and Kacrackle. You need to keep Insulatle and Magic Barrier active. Zoma can attack three times per turn, making it crucial for you to stay on top of your healing and buffs.
The Hero and Monster Wrangler should fight but skip Oomph and focus on healing and buffing. Remember to use Sap cautiously during the boss fight. Zoma periodically removes your buffs, so make sure to reapply Acceleratle. As Zoma’s HP depletes, his attacks will grow stronger. Once the boss resorts to status effects like Dazzle, you need to stay focused and keep your guard up against his increased attack power.
After defeating Zamo, you will be teleported to Talontear Tunnel, leading to the conclusion of your grand adventure in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
