How to Beat Kang-jin Star Boss in Black Myth Wukong

Defeat Kang-Jin Star Black Myth Wukong

When it comes to the boss fight, Kang-Jin Star is mostly in her human form but it transforms into her Dragon form sometimes. So, it’s not as chaotic as the first thunder dragon at the beginning of Chapter 3. However, some of her moves can hurt since all of her attacks are lighting attacks base which means you will still get shocked, meaning you’ll take more damage if you’re in a Shock state.

When you get to the top of the snow mountain where the boss is standing talking to someone, get ready to dodge right away. This boss has a lot of fast moves so you got to get ready. Mainly, you’re going to see here lightning needles that will spin around the boss’s head and then shoot at you one at a time. They don’t do much in terms of damage but they do apply shock to you if you get hit too much.

Notice the bar on the right side of the screen that might pop up with Kang-Jin Star. This is the Kang-Jin Star for lightning and if it fills up all the way then your character will get the shock icon at the bottom underneath the health bar. Since lightning is the main element for this boss, she’s going to be throwing a single blast of lightning at you, getting up close and personal with punches and other types of basic moves.

When you’re ready, run towards her and unleash your heavy attack then immediately use your Cloud Step, activate your attack Buffs by drinking your gourd, and then charge another heavy attack. Hold it and wait a little bit until she finishes her range attack then go for it. This will knock her down and do two to three light attacks then use Wandering White.

Tips and tricks to defeat the Kang-jin Star Boss

The best tip for defeating the Kang-jin Star Boss is to use Immobilize and complete your heavy combo and use Azure Dust as it’s the best transformation spell for electric bosses.

  • When the boss flies into the air, this is one of the times when she’ll transform into her form. Here she’ll start not only striking the field with lightning but at those same spots these larger pillars will hit the ground, meaning extra damage can be done to you especially if you’re shocked. Luckily, they’re easy to outrun so you don’t even need to dodge but just simply run around then let go and make sure your stamina recharges so that you’re ready to counterattack.
  • As soon as the attack finishes, run up to the boss and try to get a free combo as fast as you can, since the previous move that just finished actually makes the boss pretty tired. However, if you can’t commit to a full combo then stop it, back up, and get ready to dodge one of the incoming attacks.
  • When the boss waves her hand and then poses, you simply need to run away. A gigantic electrical bubble will appear around her and expand. If you’re stuck in that bubble, you’ll get hit constantly and there’s actually a high chance you could die because it’s not only shocking you but also dealing a lot of damage to you. The move will finish then with a giant ring of electricity shooting out from all directions. This part is actually easy to avoid because luckily, you can avoid it by simply going down the hill a bit and just waiting for it to fly over your head.
  • One of the other times she might transform into her Dragon form is when she jumps away from you but she doesn’t go high up in the air like she did beforehand. If this happens though, you need to be ready to dodge her tail attacks or you can use your transformation. At this particular part in the game, Azure Dust is the favorite transformation because you can tank everything. Luckily, she does not stay in her dragon form for very long but she will not become tired after using this particular attack, so don’t go rushing in with any combos.
  • This is the moment where you do use immobilize and get a full combo on her but make sure you’re careful and don’t commit to full combo unless you’re able to because some of her normal moves will enter at the particular animation where she throws you into the air. This will cause some good damage to you and shock you.
  • The final move to watch out for in this half fight of the fight is when the boss will fly into the air but not transform but instead, she’ll start throwing projectiles at you. You need to get ready to dodge these in sets of two. They don’t hurt too much unless you’re already shucked but you do have some medicine that you hopefully brought with you and should be able to counter that.
  • From here, she’ll undergo a semi-transformation, her hair simply becomes white but her attacks are going to be more powerful than one might expect. Most of her moves will stay the same however they’re more combined. Things like fully charged Pillar Stance though are still going to be great here or any kind of charge attack. Pillar Stance is recommended here because you can get out of the way and smack her onto the ground. And you can run up and get some combos on her.
  • The new move you do need to watch out for in the second half is the horizontal lightning shower type move. Where tons of small projectiles will be shot out from her hands and fly towards you. The easy way to dodge this is to simply run to one of the sides. And then try to go back towards her to get behind her so that nothing will hit you. Just watch out though for a big final strike as she’ll fly away and throw the big thing at you. And you need to get ready for this one.

Kang-jin Star Boss Attacks and Strategies

Below are the best strategies for defeating Kang-Jin Star in Black Myth Wukong.

  • Mini Lightning Attack: The boss will shoot small lightning bolts at you. You can avoid this attack by dodging towards the sides as she’ll Shoot the lightning strikes at your last position.
  • Lightning Swipes: she swipes her arms up twice and lightning charges follow up. Avoid this attack by dodging in the backward direction. Don’t bother to dodge left or right as the lightning charges will hit you.
  • Lightning Grab: This attack has two phases. In the first one, she will grab you with lightning in her hands and throw you into the air. In the second phase, she’ll hit you many times and you can’t do anything about it. All you need to do is to dodge away to avoid her grab attack with lightning or else you’ll get massive damage or you can die.
  • Lightning orb: Kang-Jin Star will first throw four lightning spears and then follow up with five lightning orbs. Dodge either left, right, or backward when you see the spears. Wait for the arrival of Lightning Orb and then perfectly make a dodge in any direction.
  • Tracking Lightning: You will see that Kang-Jin Star will start levitating and will try to strike you with lightning strikes during the fight. Before the lightning strikes, there will be a marker around you. So, you need to perfectly dodge or run fast to the side to avoid this deadly attack.
  • Lightning Balls: This attack has two phases and each phase deals massive damage. In the first part, she levitates with 5 lightning balls surrounding her and will shoot you one another. In the second part, she levitates with 3 lightning balls above her head and shoots all of them at once. This attack will be done multiple times. To avoid the first part of the attack, you need to dodge and get well-prepared. Here, timing matters. The second part of the attack is easily avoidable by dodging left or right as all the lightning balls will come to strike you at once.
  • Lightning Strikes (Dragon Version): The boss will transform herself into a dragon and try to hit you with multiple lightning strikes. All you need to do is to run away in the arena. And be in a running state till you can avoid the attack.
  • Body Slam (Dragon Version): The boss will smash her body to the ground to hit you. This deadly attack is quick and it’s hard to predict during the fight. So, you need to time your dodge to avoid getting hit by her body.
  • Lightning Spears- This attack is commonly done by Kang-Jin Star at the start of the second phase when she starts transforming. She will create multiple spears that will hit the ground, creating an electric field in the small portion. This attack deals massive damage and you need to run away from the area where spears are making an electric field. Use the Cloud Step skill to be invisible and quick.
