Appraise Your Fish
If simply relying on the special rods and enchantments is proving to be inefficient, you can also manually change the mutations of the fish you’ve caught by appraising it through the Appraiser in Moosewood. Moosewood is the first of the five islands in the game, and the Appraiser NPC is found near the General Merchant. The Appraiser can apply mutations, change weight, and various other things that affect the sale price. Take note that he does charge an Appraisal fee.
Nuke Explosions
Nuke explosions in Fisch trigger an event that mutates fish in the vicinity for 30 minutes. You find the Nuke by fishing, and once you’ve caught one, a minigame is triggered. This minigame requires you to balance the Nuke by pressing Q and E. Failing to balance triggers the Nuke and sends it soaring to the sky, then detonating. You, therefore, want to fail this minigame and trigger the Nuke. This detonation mutates all the fish on the island and is a good way to catch mutated fish. The Nuke is found the same way as fish are, by fishing. The Nuke does not spawn at any specific location.
Treasure Chests
You also find mutated fish inside treasure chests scattered across the game. You find treasure chests by using treasure maps, which are acquired through fishing. If you catch hold of a treasure map, take it to the Jack Marrow NPC in the Forsaken Shore. The NPC will translate the map for you, marking the locations of the chest for 250C$. Use the map and locate the chests, and if you’re lucky, you may find a mutated fish.
