The longer you survive on the island and familiarize yourself with the surroundings through exploration, the better resources you find.
The Chainsaw is one such resource you get later on in the game, and boy, is it a total game-changer. The chainsaw cuts through trees just as well as it does through cannibals and is one of the best tools in the game. It boosts your offensive capabilities while improving your efficiency in base-building.

How To Get the Chainsaw
The Chainsaw cannot be crafted and instead must be found on the map. This valuable tool is hidden inside a cave, and with so many caves to explore, it may be a little complicated to find the correct one.
The Chainsaw is inside the Cave 3. This cave may be a little tricky to find, so you need to first head to the Sinkhole. The Sinkhole is near the center of the map and is hard to miss. Directly to the east of this Sinkhole is the cave you’re looking for. There are three caves to the east, but you want to go to the one that is furthest away.
Once you’re inside the cave, traverse through the darkness using your lighter. Follow the path straight till you come across corpses hanging from the roof. Head towards the corpses and walk past them to find a path leading below. You can either drop down or use your pickaxe to climb down below.
Keep heading straight till you reach a dead end with a rope hanging below. Press E to interact with the rope and rappel down below to the lower section. Follow the path straight till you reach a section of the cave with a broken-down trestle table. The Chainsaw is at the top of the table. Interact with the Chainsaw to pick it up and acquire it.
