Discover how to collect Ectoplasm in Oblivion Remastered by finding and battling ghosts or trading with merchants
Ectoplasm is an important alchemical ingredient for magic users that can be obtained through looting spectral enemies and bought from merchants. The ingredient is requested by Margarte to complete the Drunk and Disorderly quest for the Fighters Guild questline in Leyawiin. Here are all the ways you can find Ectoplasm in Oblivion Remastered.
Get Ectoplasm by Defeating Ghosts and Wraiths
Find and defeat undead spirits like ghosts and wraiths to collect ectoplasm as loot from their remains. They are commonly found in Ayleid Ruins, chapel undercrofts, and caves. However, the malevolent spirits are tricky enemies to face in battle, as they take no damage from ordinary physical weaponry. Ghosts attack with frost spells at range and melee. Wraiths are stronger than ghosts and deal physical damage in addition to magical damage. As the game increases enemy levels to match the player’s, nearly all ghosts will eventually turn into wraiths.
To damage ghosts and wraiths, use magic attacks. Shock spells work best as they are vulnerable to it, and avoid using frost spells as they are resistant. You can also use silver, enchanted, and daedric weapons to deal damage to them. The spirits also take hand-to-hand damage if the skill is at the Journeyman level or higher.
Where To Find Ghosts and Wraiths in Oblivion Remastered
Ghosts and Wraiths are fairly common enemies that can be found throughout the map in Oblivion Remastered. Every chapel’s undercroft contains between five and ten ghosts inside. You can pick its lock and enter without fear of trespassing. The town of Anvil seems to be a hotspot for the specters as well. Talk to Velwyn at The Count’s Arms to enter the Benirus Manor and fight its ghosts. This is part of the Where Spirits Have Lease quest. Additionally, there is a ship in Anvil that spawns ghosts as part of The Ghost Ship of Anvil quest.
