In V Rising, you play as a vampire who can feed on enemies’ blood to gain bonuses depending on the blood type and purity. The maximum quality of blood that you can get from an enemy is 100%. However, if you feed on them in the overworld, it results in the enemy dying on the spot. To keep such a valuable target alive, you can capture and lock the enemies as prisoners.

As prisoners, you can drink their blood as much as you want. However, getting a 100% quality on an enemy is very rare. There are times that you might find enemies with high but not completely pure blood. You can solve this problem by using the Irradiant Gruel consumable on them. To help you make some, here’s a guide on how you can make Irradiant Gruel in V Rising.

The recipe for the Irradiant Gruel unlocks after you defeat Angram the Purifier. He is a level 61 V Blood carrier. Moreover, you can find him roaming at the Pools of Rebirth in the Gloomrot South region. He roams around in an open field, so challenge this boss at night time to avoid burning in the sun.

We recommend using any ranged weapons, as Angram mostly spams artillery attacks with occasional charge attacks. Do not attack him when his shield his up, doing so causes your projectiles to be fired back at you.  Once you defeat Angram, absorb his V Blood to unlock new recipes, including Irradiant Gruel.

Here’s what you are going to need to make one Irradiant Gruel at your Alchemy Table:

  • 20x Plague Brier (15 if you have the Matching Floor bonus)
  • 20x Mutant Grease (15 if you have the Matching Floor bonus)

It takes 20 seconds to make one Irradiant Gruel. We recommend making a few at a time to avoid using up too many resources.

Use of Irradiant Gruel in V Rising

Irradiant Gruel is a consumable that you can feed your prisoners to increase their blood quality by 1%-2%. However, there is a 35% chance that feeding this radioactive concoction can turn your prisoners into a raging mutant monster. Therefore, this is a high-risk, high-reward procedure.
