The Forest begins with you, Eric LeBlanc, sitting in a plane beside your son. Before you know it, turbulence hits, and the plane rumbles and tears apart, crashing down into the forests of a seemingly abandoned island. Your son goes missing, and you find yourself surrounded by cannibals, fighting to survive.
Through its 15-hour or so run time, this game makes you feel helpless at every corner. However, if you know where to look, you can turn the tables on your enemies and make them face the wrath of Musashi himself using a Katana. The Katana is one of the strongest weapons in the game and turns you from a helpless plane wreck survivor into a brutal killing machine.

Where To Find the Katana in The Forest
The Katana cannot be crafted and, instead, must be found inside a cave. The world is massive, and it can be tricky to locate this powerful weapon. First, head to the Sinkhole at the center of the map. This location is right at the center of your map, marked by a large circle, and is hard to miss.
To the southeast of this Sinkhole, you’ll find the cave. It is the third cave from the southeast of the Sinkhole perimeter, between the Sinkhole and before the main cannibal village down at the bottom right of the map. As you reach closer to the cave, you will find a river and a bunch of giant rocks.
The cave entrance is marked by a yellow rope leading to the depths below. Head to the entrance and press E to interact with the rope and enter the cave. Use the rope and rappel down to the section below inside the cave. Once you reach down below, you will find a bunch of pictures stuck to the cave walls, signalling that you’re in the right cave.
Follow the path along the cave till you reach another rope leading up. Take the rope above and head left at the top. You could also head right, but cannibals guard this path. Follow the path left and you will find the Katana at the very end, lodged inside a corpse.
