The infamous Jauffre bug still exists in Oblivion Remastered. However, unlike other bugs, this one breaks your game in a bad way.
Although players have already discovered and are exploiting various bugs within Oblivion Remastered, this particular one is not quite as fun. The first main story quest, “Deliver the Amulet,” involves an NPC named Jauffre.
The problem arises when this NPC does not behave as intended and either stops following you or disappears altogether. This bug can be frustrating to deal with, especially since it occurs in the first quest, and you cannot progress the main story without completing it.

All Jauffre Bugs in Oblivion Remastered
There are several ways your progress can be halted by bugs involving Jauffre. These include Jauffre getting stuck or refusing to talk to you. There have also been instances where he disappears altogether and cannot be found anywhere in the area.
Jauffre Gets Stuck or Does Not Talk to You in Oblivion Remastered
If Jauffre gets stuck on the way to the temple or refuses to talk about the quest, you can try a few techniques to progress.
- Don’t pick up the katana: Some players have noted that picking up the katana from the tutorial may interfere with this quest. If possible, avoid picking it up, or if you already have, try dropping it.
- Fast travel: If Jauffre is stuck, try fast traveling to the temple or another location and then returning. This may fix the issue. Fast traveling directly to the location might also work.
- Walk: Walk through Bruma’s gates and then go back out. This has a chance to reset Jauffre’s position if fast traveling does not work.
If all else fails, your last resort could be to reload your save file or restart the game entirely.
How To Fix Jauffre Disappearing Bug in Oblivion Remastered
There can be instances where the quest NPC vanishes altogether. The quest will tell you to talk to Jauffre, but there will be no Jauffre. In this confusing situation, you can try a few fixes.
- Reload your save file: Reloading a previous save file is one of the most consistent ways to resolve bugs in general.
- Restart your game: Restarting your game entirely might cause him to reappear.
