The Auroral Helm can be a tricky find in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. Here’s a quick guide for you on how to obtain it without much hassle.
Players who acquire the Auroral Helm in Dragon Quest 3 Remake gain possession of the Heroic Headwear achievement/trophy. The best part about this achievement is the fact that you don’t have to ‘fight’ much to receive it.
Neither of the main objectives leading to these quests will ask you to fight a dangerous boss double your size or level. This makes it a peaceful quest where you need to chat with a few NPCs.
If you observe closely, it’s not even a full quest but a series of dialogues that you have to carry out in different locations. So, it can be a bit confusing to acquire the Auroral Helm because there is no clear guidance.
It all starts when you reach Tantegel. There is a building in the bottom left, marked with a trident on the map. Enter it and head upstairs. Talk to Robbin’ ‘Ood in the first cell. This is where your mission will kick off.
Acquiring the Auroral Helm in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
First Phase of the Objectives
Your first task would be to visit two henchmen in another location in Alefgard. To do this, you must visit the Quagmire Cave. It is under construction and is located to the south of Kol. Check out the location in the image above to run into the two NPCs and have a quick chat with them.
They wish to acquire a special stone from Gaia’s Navel, but that wouldn’t be possible without an explosive item. Now, your main task is to acquire an explosive first, do their work, and return to them later on.
Getting the Precious Stone
For this next bit, you first have to visit Reeve. There is a house in the top-right corner of this settlement if you check out its map while playing. Enter the house and go upstairs to talk to an NPC there. Your friend here will give you a Wrecking Ball. Calm down. There is no building that needs to be demolished.
If the dialogues unlock the Path of Promise dungeon, pay him another visit so he can grant you another bomb right away. Once done, you must head to Gaia’s Navel.
Look at the map above and reach the spot that we are standing in. You can do so by traveling south when you are presented with the choice. Once you reach the said location, make your way into the next chamber. There is a strange blue glow on the right wall of this hall.
Interacting with the glowing stone will break it off the wall and give you access to Zenithium. Take it back to the Quagmire Cave, and the henchmen will give you further instructions.

Head to Mur and visit the house located in the top-right corner of the map here. Talk to an old man there. You will have to sit through a short story. Once done, head upstairs into a room full of people. You have to talk to another NPC here and experience yet another narration.
After that, make your way down to the reception, and the workman there will have readied Ortega’s Helm for you. Don’t be disappointed. This is exactly what you need to obtain the heroic helmet.
Head north of Mur by following the coast, and you will eventually come across the Shrine of the Dwarf. Interact with the NPC here, and he will let you in on a story. If you have met him before, he will just welcome you back.
Either way, the Zenithium in your possession will allow him to help you by working on Ortega’s Helm. Say “Yes” when asked about upgrading the helmet.
Return to the NPC after a few days, and your Auroral Helm will be ready to pick up and wear in the next battle. This will also grant you the Heroic Headwear achievement we were talking about.
This helmet is extremely powerful and enhances Ortega’s Helm even further.
