The Drowned Assault Rifle is a one-of-a-kind variant of the classic AKM-74S assault rifle and it can be extremely useful in Stalker 2.

One such powerful armament that you can acquire is the Drowned Assault Rifle. This is a unique variant of the AKM-74S that comes with an underbarrel grenade launcher. This makes it perfect for combating the variety of threats lurking in the Zone.

Where To Find the Drowned Assault Rifle in Stalker 2
To start on your journey to get the Drowned Assault Rifle, you need to progress through the main mission “Behind Seven Seals” until you exit the Lesser Zone. From here, travel north to the Slag Heap in the Garbage region. This area becomes accessible after completing the “Behind Seven Seals” mission. Close to the entrance to the Slag Heap, you’ll encounter a Stalker named Boo. You can find him standing on a bridge. Boo will inform you that he accidentally dropped his gun into the pond below the bridge.
The weapon Boo is referring to is the Drowned Assault Rifle itself. It is lying in the pond, and you can find it leaning against a chunk of concrete. To retrieve it, you need to dive into the pond and pick up the rifle. If you interact with Boo before picking up the gun, he will ask you to retrieve it for him. If you pick up the gun first, he will ask you to return it to him. However, you can choose to keep the gun for yourself. This is preferred since returning it offers no immediate benefit.
The Drowned will be in poor condition when you first pick it up. You can try repairing the Rifle with a Technician in the Slag Heap to improve its overall performance. The Drowned Assault Rifle comes with a grenade launcher that uses VOG-25 grenades. You can rarely find these grenades throughout the Zone or purchase them from merchants. The rifle features taped magazines, allowing for faster reloads every other time.
