Build your own Research Laboratory in Palworld and boost the productivity of your adorable monster friends with the help of this guide.
Palworld introduced the Research Laboratory to the game with its Feybreak update. The majority of players were probably too busy roaming around the Feybreak island rather than checking out what this new cool building had in store for them. No worries, though. That’s what we are here for.
The sole purpose of this building is to make your pals more productive at the task they are assigned. The research topics include Kindling, Planting, Handiwork, Lumbering, Medicine Production, Transporting, Watering, Generating Electricity, Gathering, Mining, Cooling, and Farming. All of these correspond to several tasks you can assign pals to.
Once players hit level 20 in the game, they can open the Technology menu to unlock this lab. It will cost you 2 Technology Points to get the blueprint. Once you have it, you can gather 10 Ingots and 10 Paldium Fragments to craft the Research Laboratory at last. Easy, right? The only catch here is that you need some spare space in your base, and the rest is history.
How the Research Laboratory works in Palworld is you have to assign your pals to certain tasks. Don’t forget to add pals that you use or wish to use for that certain task. This will help you upgrade the above-mentioned jobs and boost your productivity as per your will. But how does one use the Research Lab in the first place?

Operating the Research Laboratory in Palworld
Research Lab uses “research” to provide your pals with work-related buffs to either boost the production or reduce the crafting cost of that certain product. Each category of work that we mentioned above has its own specific upgrade tree that you can gradually unlock. All upgrade nodes there require different ingredients. Ancient Pal Manuscripts can be the most confusing one out of all of them, though.
One of the ways of earning these manuscripts is through Bounty Tokens. You will find your targets throughout the map. These are NPC bosses that have a red aura similar to Alpha Pals. You can see the same Alpha Pal icon on them on the map as well. Defeating them will give you Bounty Tokens that you can then trade to Vigilante Bounty Officers.
These are located in most settlements. You will come across items like Gold and High-Grade Technical Manuals. However, Ancient Pal Manuscripts is also a prize here.
You can also create a Pal Expedition Station starting at Level 15 using 20 Wood, 20 Stone, and 5 Paldium Fragments. Defeat the boss related to that specific expedition to unlock it. Then, when you send your pals to either of the following expeditions, it can reward you with Ancient Pal Manuscripts:
- Cave in thhe Grassland
- Forest’s Secret Realm
- Volcanic Inferno Cave
- Hidden Ruins of the Desert
- Spirit Blossom Cave
- Dark Cave of Feybreak
With the help of the gathered Ancient Pal Manuscripts, you will be able to upgrade your desired node peacefully.
