The Ruyi Scroll in Black Myth: Wukong is a key item that grants you access to the Zodiac Village. This area makes your gameplay experience much more convenient. However, you must complete the Chen Loong questline in Chapter 3 to get the item.
In this article, we explain how to complete the Chen Loong questline and get the Ruyi Scroll. While it is a simple quest, be prepared for an easy boss fight with a rather estranged dragon.
What is the Ruyi Scroll in Black Myth: Wukong?
The Ruyi Scroll is an important item in Black Myth: Wukong that lets you travel to the Zodiac Village, a place created by Chen Loong for the Zodiacs to live together in peace and harmony. You can also find all the major NPCs who upgrade your items here.
Shen Monkey, who upgrades your Gourds and Soaks is located here. You will also find Xu Dog, a key character to unlock various pills that increase your maximum stats.
Furthermore, the Ruyi Scroll Zodiac Village is home to the Yin Tiger, an NPC who can upgrade certain armor for you. You can challenge the Yin Tiger for a third Curio slot unlock. Yin Tiger is one of the tougher bosses that you encounter in Black Myth: Wukong. However, defeating him unlocks a third curio slot and the Ebon Flow transformation.
To unlock the Ruyi Scroll, complete the Chen Loong questline in Black Myth: Wukong.
How to Complete the Chen Loong Questline in Black Myth: Wukong
To start the Chen Loong questline, fast travel to the North of Bitter Lake Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 3. This is found in the Bitter Lake region of The New West.
Here is a step-by-step guide to completing the Chen Loong questline in Black Myth: Wukong:
Step 1: Find Chen Loong
From the North of Bitter Lake Keeper’s Shrine, turn around and follow the coastline. Make sure to keep the water body to your left. After a short travel, you should see the silhouette of the dragon. Chen Loong will be in the middle of the water in an area surrounded by some raised rocks.
Your task now is to defeat the elder dragon. This is a rather simple fight.
Step 2: Defeat Chen Loong
Chen Loong does not offer much of a challenge. He will mostly use Thunder attacks: he is a combination of a melee and ranged fighter. His melee attacks are easy to avoid, and his primary ranged attack involves raising slightly from the ground and hitting you with an electro-beam from his mouth.
Chen Loong does not have any preposterous stats like the other Loongs. Using spells like Immobilize and A Pluck of Many can easily bring his health down. Just dodge his attacks and hit him with your varied combos. Use healing as needed and this fight should be over in around a minute.
Step 3: Bring Chen Loong a Pill from Xu Dog
After beating Chen Loong, the dragon will ask you to get a pill from Xu Dog to help relieve his pain and regain his powers. You can find Xu Dog in Chapter 2, just beside a Keeper’s Shrine. Simply Fast Travel to the Cellar Shrine in Chapter 2 to find him.
This Shrine is in the Crouching Tiger Temple region in Yellow Wind Ridge, Chapter 2. Once you locate Xu Dog, talk to him and he will give you a pill for Chen Loong.
Step 4: Return to Chen Loong with the Pill
Return to Chen Loong after getting the Pill from Xu Dog. Thereafter, the dragon will be elated and hand you a painted scroll, which is the Ruyi Scroll. Chen Loong will call this The Painted Realm, a peaceful haven he created with his fellow deities. With that, you have completed the Chen Loong questline in Black Myth: Wukong.
How to Reach the Zodiac Village in Black Myth: Wukong
After completing the Chen Loong questline, you will be sucked into the Ruyi Scroll before reaching the Zodiac Village in Black Myth: Wukong. Once inside, you will be able to unlock a Keeper’s Shrine just beside your spawn point.
This Keeper’s Shrine at the Zodiac Village will always appear at the top of your Travel menu. You can access it any time you want. Unlocking this becomes extremely convenient since all the major NPCs who upgrade your items are already here.
