You need to be very careful with some of the choices you make during your playthrough to get the true ending in Metaphor ReFantazio.
As you get to the end of Metaphor ReFantazio, you will face your most challenging fight yet. This comes in the form of Archdemon Louis Charadrius. The boss can be a massive undertaking since the fight is a culmination of your entire journey through Euchronia. If you want to get the true ending to the game, you will have to be very careful about some of the choices you make leading up to the fight.
In this article, we will break down what you need to avoid to make sure you get the true ending in Metaphor ReFantazio.
What You Need to Do For the True Ending in Metaphor ReFantazio
You do not have to do much at the end of the game to get the true ending. The secret to getting the true ending lies in avoiding the bad ending triggers. There are three separate events that can lock you into one of the three bad endings. These are:
- Fantasy is Dead Ending: You can trigger the Fantasy is Dead Ending by choosing the incorrect option in the Ancient Elden Sanctum. To get this ending, follow this dialogue path when talking to the voice in the Sanctum on 09/24:
- “It came to nothing.”
- “It was all a mistake…”
- “… Lies dead before me.“
- Fantasy is Ruined Ending: For this ending, you need to select the “That’s certainly true.” option during the conversation with Louis at the Skybound Avatar on 10/25.
- Fantasy is Only Fiction Ending: You can trigger this ending by replying “I understand. You’re right.” during the conversation with More on 10/26.
If you manage to avoid all of these triggers, you can battle Archdemon Louis Charadrius in a climactic battle and get the true ending in Metaphor ReFantazio. Your character will gain immense support from the kingdom to take up the throne. Additionally, the ending features an epilogue that shows how your leadership has impacted Euchronia for the better.
It is important to remember that if you miss hit any one of these triggers, you will be permanently locked into that ending. You will have to start another playthrough to get the true ending.
